There's nothing wrong with developers, what's wrong is Apple has yet to sue Microsoft for the use of the monopolized proprietary coding used in almost all games called Direct X. Once Apple sues and wins this lawsuit like they did on other technologies that MS was monopolizing in the past, every game will be ported over. Until that day comes i and many like me are stuck using Winblowz for our gaming needs. I would much rather be on a mac as just yesterday i found that my graphics driver has become obsolete suddenly with a single update by MS, no warning they just decided not to support it anymore after many hours of wondering why Winblowz 7 wasn't recognizing my software i discovered this new little tidbit. MS loves to screw the user over and it's a very old tactic to make us all spend more money on things we shouldn't have to. Apple is at least respectable about it.

Sorry if someone mentioned this already, as I had no interest in reading 6 pages of replies, ... As a iMac and Macbook pro owner, i can highly suggest getting yourself a copy of Parallel's Ver. 7 for Mac, and installing a copy of Windows 7 on it.   You can run any PC game on your Mac without even leaving the Mac OS X environment with great performance.   I play WoW, Rift, Aion and in most I am getting 60 fps and low latency... if you want to kick it up a notch you can install your windows 7 on a boot camp partition and boot directly to your window's 7, leveraging the full power of your Mac's video and processing power with no limitations.   Just hold the ALT key down when you reboot and it will prompt you to boot to Windows or OSX, just mouse click your selection.   You can do this without purchasing Parallels, however if you opt' to do both, you can access your boot partition while your in OSX as well.

Now if your on the money watch right now, you can Google Window's 8 or go ot the Tech Developers page and download a free copy of Window's 8 developer until you save up the money to purchase a full version of 7 or 8, but the developers copy is likely going to be good until 8 get's released next summer.   Seem's pretty stable to me, as I am running both Window's 7 Ultimate and Window's 8 in my Parallel's program.

Best wishes.   Mac's rock!  No Blue screen for the win!

Your post gets even funnier when you mention that macs are banned from your work because they are somehow bad hardware when the three projects to code the entire human genome had to use macs because their processing capacity was so much more powerful then anything winblowz on any p'arts c'ollection could do not to mention every major and successful tv show or movie that uses special effects uses macs exclusively, including but not limited to whole companies who crank out entire movie genres.

Now that that's settled with facts, [...]

This is the problem. People read that, and think, wow Macs are the thing to have. Then they go to the store and realize the cheapers of those desktop computers is 5.000$ and think, ok i will but a cheaper one, it's still a Mac, so it will be good, and spend 1.700$ on an iMac,which is a good option if you want to upgrade the screen (apple screen is amazing) but you will have a slower computer than a normal windows PC for the same money. But of course you won't feel "special".

Myth number two. i bought mine for $500 and it was about a 6 month older model but that doesn't mean the same thing in the mac world that it means in the pc world, because we aren't usually FORCED out of our hardware by the time we receive the mac new. Like anything it pays to shop online to find the best deals whenever anything is bought direct from the companies it is ALWAYS more expensive and anytime someone buys a PC for cheap they really don't have the backing of the companies support not even for the first 90 days. I own both i know.

Nothing new to see here folks, move along.

Let me add, this if your not familiar with installing a boot partition, and adding a copy of Windows 7 or 8, without Parallels or Fusion 4, simply click the magnifying glass in the upper right corner of your Mac and type the phrase bootcamp, you will see the Boot Camp assistant and it will walk you thru the steps to install either copy.   One important note you will need a full version of either Win 7 or 8, upgrade copies will not work as you need to be able to boot to the install disk after the assistant partitions your hard drive.  And you can simply erase the partition and recapture your drive space at anytime without any penalty.

    Best wishes.

not to mention, no mentionable virus threats, no hard drive crashes, continuous uptime, free apps to keep it running smooth, secure unix kernel the list goes on. The problem is most haters just on here to hate can't see a good thing even if they were slapped with it. I just love the myths too, "it's too expensive" "they are crappy hardware" "no one makes software for them" All wrong, written by people who don't have a clue.

    Install boot camp

    Install windows

    Problem solved.

    It's that easy.

have they fixed the issues with the graphics not responding correctly in boot camp when running windows due to windows running in a shell? Because the last time i tried anything like this it did not work well. Graphics on any game running in bootcamp was aweful but this was a few years ago.

    Short answer, yeah actually.

I used to play MMOs like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

Why pay more for a less powerful Mac if you're going to play games on windows anyways?
