1) AoC - So not ready to be sitting on store shelves. Failcom, well, full of fail and deception. I have to admit that Tortage was kind of entertaining, but afterwards it was a turd. Too much instancing. Terrible graphics engine optimization (well, for the PC...probably runs great on the 360, LOL!)
2) Horizons -
3) Rappelz - Okay, pretty much any F2P game goes here.
4) WoW - It also made my top 5 list, AND it makes my bottom 5. If you don't understand why, you've never played the game.
5) Runescape - WTF? Seriously. I'd rather have needles stuck in my eyes. I played ASCII character based games that were better than this POS.
Honorable Mention: Dungeon Runners. Kinda funny, but stupid as hell. And leads to face smashing boredome.
1. AoC- needs another year in the oven. Shame on FunCom for releasing a game with a lack of content, bugs and not having in the game what was promised to be!
2. WoW- hated the graphics and the community.
3. EQ2- good game, but with SoE's attitude and customer service... it ruins it.
4. Hellgate:London- Flagship should be ashamed of the way they released and maintained it.
5. SWG (post CU)- another game that started out great and was ruined by SoE.

I really can't find 5 MMO's that can fit in the 5 worst MMO list..Part from the steady stream of Corean/asian MMO's. But I guess it's in the eye of the beholder aswell.
But I do hate all the ignorant whiners that really can or will be the downfall of many games both now and in the future..This is really NR 1,,
And whats is up with AoC in the top for some players...???
Same goes for AC2???
Did you actually play it at the end or just in it's first few months ?? An act
Ive only played about 20 MMOs but heres my short list of the worst:
1. Runescape-Hands down the worst community and game all in one
2. EQ2- Horrible sequal, basically turned into wow clone when they were losing customers
3. D&DO- I thought this game should have been alot better....Had a few good ideas but overall was lacking in content
4. UO- My first MMO. Was always a fan of Ultima series but UO was not fun....If you enjoy getting ganked constantly and having all your stuff taken then this was the game for you....."Skill" based yet 90 percent of the player base used macros and cheats.....
5. Knight Online- The game itself was mediocre but attracted a very poor community......
i wouldnt say conan is the worst since its still hasnt reached its potential. it is still being worked on so give it time.
ill have to say that ff11 should be the worst. i played for 5 minutes and got bored. the character looks bored fighting why should i not be bored? im sure theres more to it than that but if a game cant keep me entertained for the first 5 minutes why should i continue with it?
The Matrix Online (It has so much going for it, but...)
Dungeon & Dragons Online (It has a lot of the goods, but not enough content)
Pirates of the Burning Sea (It got old after I spent days getting my ship and having someone blow me out of the water 10 minutes later... plus the lack of content)
Planet Side (People pay to play a FPS online? LOL!)
#1 WORLD OF WARCRAFT (It showed that the everyday person doesn't want to think any harder then they have to, and they want everything spoon fed to them... also showed that the general public and the rest of the world how mindless people really are)
The problem here is trying to remember the names of them...
1) Sims Online- Yes, they called it an MMO. Only beta where there was no bugs and no fun.
2) Earth & Beyond- So glad they pulled the plug on this one. Boring, boring, boring.
3) Roma Victor- Noble concept, ignoble execution.
4) SWG- Some remarkable things, but they launched with whole classes broken and unplayable (anyone remember Bio-Engineers, who could create a product that buffed a skill that was removed during Beta?). They recruited the gaming industry's top leadership who then completely fell on their face. They spent all their time perfecting social systems that no one would use and then ran out of time to put together a Jedi system. What kind of Star Wars game saves the Jedi system until last? Then, of course, came NGE.
5) Vaporware honorary mention: Atriarch- Still in early development after well over five years. Cool, original concepts but just got people's hopes up.

Since there is a best 5 mmorpgs in other post, may as well pick the worst 5 mmorpgs from your past experience. Mines are 1) Age of Conan (played for 5 days) 2) Star Wars Galaxy 3) Asheron's Call 2 4) Shadowbane 5) Hellgate: London
What's yours?
EDIT: We should only post non-free ones, the games must either has a retail box or a sub plan. This will keep the list focus. (Yes, there are a LOT of bad free money/xp grind mmo with cash shops out there)
Define worst? The worst are games like Dark and Light and Mourning....It sounds to me like you’re asking what were the most disappointing games ever.
I can only think of three games that deserve to be on a "wost" list. These games fell so far short of what was promised, or in the case of SWG, they took a game with potential and destroyed it.
The SWG situation should teach people one thing. Franchises like SWG, LOTR and it's ilk are always going to try to appeal to as many people as humanly possible. This means that, like WoW, many, many people will tolerate them, but they won't have "tight" developed fanbases like EvE. I would have to ssay, EvE probably has the tightest fanbase I know of.
"What is it that the gamers want from these games and why is it not given to them? We were playing these games ourselves, that's why we know it was not being done. So we moved in the opposite direction. We thought about what the users wanted, what we wanted, and why it wasn't happening and how it could happen." - Tasos Flambouras
Cant remember the name of it - It was like EvE (real-time skills) but first person and the server uptime was 10 minutes before a crash :P You had to run around repairing stuff... anyone help me?
FoM - Is the content coming in the next patch?
Roma Victor - Ok we got the item mall setup.... erm... who forgot to add the gameplay?
Auto Assault - Video != Game.
Games where you truly do login and think "Why is this on mmorpg.com?"

-Dragonraja-don't even play it -Lineage 2, didn't like at all. -AC, to be fair played this late but looking across that landscape; such an eyesore -EQ2, to be fair this was early on but from such a big expectation of EQ to have a lameass trial island, to have group shared xp debt, to have chain linked mobs.. I do know it's meant to have improved now though. -er Rappelz Online? was some free mmo with the worst kind of chat you don't want to experience.
1. Age of Conan 2. Hellgate: London 3. Star Wars Galaxies (after NGE) 4. Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 5. Face of Mankind (In no particular order)
Lol i played FoM for 2 years and it was probably the best mmo ive ever played. (Just due to sandbox reasons, the player made content kept me going)
what didnt you like about it?
No people lol. I love sandbox MMOs. I really do. I did not like the way the Developers handles certain things like advertising the product, lack of communication and the fact that only about 100 people play it.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
I dont know what everyone has against Asherons Call 2, I played it for over a year and I never had any issues with it. Maybe it was because it was my first MMORPG, but I've had some of my best experiences from AC2 and I have been playing WoW for 3 years with 2 very geared level 70's and I still didnt have as much fun as with AC2. Not calling anyone out to argue but honestly if AC2 was still around I think I would go back to that over WoW, but maybe that is just me. Lugian Tactician was just hilarious to watch imo.
2) Earth & Beyond- So glad they pulled the plug on this one. Boring, boring, boring.
Aww, you should be shot for that one. I would sign up for it again in a heartbeat if someone opened it again. It has a HUGE cult following. It's all taste though.
My 5,
WoW (Community, can't get past it)
EQ,EQ2,SWG,Vanguard, hell, anything with the SoE moniker. (SoE)
AC2 (Didn't the guy who screwed Horizons also have a hand in this mess?)
Ryzom (Interesting concept, too many knee-jerk changes in the beginning ruined it)

Hard to answer this. Just because I didn't care for a game doesn't make it bad. But I would have to say:
1) Vanguard - Made me angry
2) DDO - What? No soloing?
3) RFO - Lineage 2 remade
4) COH - Lasted a month..just can't stand wearing tights I guess
5) AOC - Disappointment, over the lost potential of what it could have been.

4) RF Online
5) Auto Assault
In terms of now:
1) Age of Conan
2) Hellgate: London
