If you could hide it would probably break follow, but the point is that all melee in PVP tournaments just goes to show that like every other free to play korean mmo you are meant to stand there and beat the shit out of each other and whoever has the best gear wins. It's very easy to see how transparent it really is. PVE looks fun, tho.

It's CLEARLY an advantage to have it in AION if you're melee. Look at the PVP tournament videos. ALL MELEE USES IT.

It's being called lineage 2 / wow mix.

I don't, I love the feature.  it's great for my spiritmaster and cleric.  Don't know why some people complaint about it.  They are so stupid.

It's a lame mechanic, how is someone supposed to get away in world pvp?

You could just auto follow them, might as well put everyone in a flat box with everyone out in the open it totally takes away the ability to use terrain as an advantage in escape.

You must not be much of a pvper.

Any melee pvper knows you wouldn't turn the auto follow off of any class in any game with a melee char ever. It's basically stupid because it turns it into every other korean free 2 play where you are supposed to stand at each other and beat the shit out of each other and whoever has the best gear wins. You are removing skill from freedom of movement and replacing it with code dependancy.

An auto follow is literally game breaking for PVP. If they use it in the SEVER TOURNAMENTS IN THE OTHER COUNTRIES IT IS OBVIOUSLY A LARGE ADVANTAGE.

A bit dissapointing. I wasn't expecting a WoW killer but the game reminds me too much of F2P korean grinders with much better graphics, maybe because of the controls. It's clearly better than those but in my opinion it's worse than AoC, Warhammer and even Champions Online. This game seems to lack soul.

It ain't too bad and I'd even play it for a month or two but forced PVP kills it for me (carebear alert!). I'd endure the PVP if the game was worth it but sadly this is not the case.

    Just my opinion.

Auto follow instantly shots this game in the foot and makes it a niche game.

Anyway isn't the act of cat and mouse and using terrain as a tool apart of world pvp? Aion totally forgets this lol.

Actually I -was- going to buy it and had plans to let it take over my life(because of the way it looked and everything) until I actually played it.

    Thanks for trying tho.

quoted: It's AUTO FOLLOW not Auto CATCH. unless the person has way better gear to run 10% or fly 10-25% faster then you, otherwise they can't catch you. Also, your toon will stop if there is something block your way. It's just easier to find your target and know your casting distant rather then guessing.

Okay, and now you've just proven my point. You're relying on gear instead of play style/skill.

No one really cares.  Even I don't think I will play that long, so many new games are coming out next year.  There are always new games.  Who cares how long Aion can last???  If you don't want to play, don't play.  I don't care.

You guys better stop posting now. We have 1/7,000,000,000 people that don't care!

You don't find this game breaking as a pvper?

Auto follow is something that I didnt mind back in the day with guild wars since all pvp was instanced and for pve it didnt matter but for a game that forces pvp on you it's really messed up.

My complaints are valid the devs should have gone another way with the combat system.

Not to mention that it can be turned off.  Yes, it is called an option menu, its called a mouse, its called a button, its called a click.

The Auto-follow is actually a god-sent in aerial combat since gauging distance when in mid-air is difficult due to the extra angles they can come at you.

Plus if a player does not even want to push a button to stop when it is so easy to do, then are they playing a game or watching movie?  Motor skill of a champion.

I don't even see the good graphics. Good composition, yes—excellent, even—which I think people often confuse for good graphics (as with WoW and LotRO). Pretty character designs and beautifully painted skyboxes don't negate the fact that everything else is low-resolution, low-poly, low-everything.

Read again, the best PVPers in the game use auto follow because it's a million times easier. It lowers the skill needed to combat someone successfully. It puts everyone on the same level playing field with crutches. In wow and other free form games you have the option of circle strafing and things like that to avoid damage. In AION damage is more guarenteed. Less "Juking" of players.

Some of you guys are killing me. I may not have been playing games as lng as some of the others here; I started with Shadowbane back in 2002. That was by far my favorite mmo to date, and I only stopped playing because it ran like utter shit. All the mechanics of Shadowbane aside.. I do recall, A. It was point and click only to move - didn't bother me a bit B. It had "auto follow". Obiviously, being point and click, if you click on someone, you ran toward them unless there was something in your way, or they were faster and got too far away, which would break the action. That didn't bother me a bit either. I had some of the most fun pvp battles in that game I can remember, even with all the new shit out.

I played WoW breifly, and mostly found a bunch of people who dance around you in circles like retards on crack the entire fight. Not that I dislike WoW, but that aspect killed it for me. I also find it funny that anyone who plays WoW would mention that Aion is gear dependent...lol. Hello... Pot? This is Kettle... you're black.

FFXI number 2? WoW will be number 2, after  SW: the old republic took #1! :P   FFXI will never be number two anyways...

FFXI is number 2 behind WoW.

I have no idea if TOR will overtake WoW but as a Anti-Wow supporter I hope so.

As for someones comment of my liking eve and auto follow. eve is a spaceship game with everyone setting orbit around eachother. It is not a on foot game trying to take over the market from a game with an amazing and fluid combat system like WoWs.

The level of control WoW gives a player is freaking nuts, similar to a Fps game if you have awesome movement skills you can kill newbs easy.

Spinning around someone is not easy, if it was everyone would do it.

As for shadowbane I miss that game but pointing out its combat system is a moot point. IN 2002 point to click isometric view was fine (UO, SB) auto follow was fine in a game like Ryzom and guildwars but in todays games we have come a long way.

Aion has no excuse for a system like this.
