I don't think this is a fair assessment at all.
How can you say 90% of people that bash it can't play it well because they have no gamer skills?
Pretty sure you've haven't seen/played with 90% of these people to know how they perform.
It's perfectly fine to express an opinion for other than typical reasons as to why someone doesn't like DCUO and not be lumped into the 'L2P' or 'noob' crowd. There are plenty of reasons people don't like DCUO and many valid criticisms.
Personally I have been extremely critical of DCUO in many areas in the past where I found it lacking certain elements what I think a traditional MMO should have, but it's fun enough that I went for the lifetime subscription because I see what they can easily build on opposed to other games having to look for lore/content.
But if I had a limited budget and couldn't afford the fee, I probably wouldn't lifetime this game if I was planning to play other MMOs as well, unless I was an action game fan first and foremost.
My personal solution is to play Rift, GW2 and SWTOR as well as DCUO and that way I get all my cravings fed.
I can't speak for others on the forums, but I would love to have seen DCU be a massive success.
Pretty sure this speaks volumes as to what you think, even though you didn't mean for it to.
DCUO has been selling hand over fist in just about every store imaginable since launch, including all the major chains and gaming stores.
SOE has spent more on television commercials on just about every meaningful channel (ESPN, G4, etc) to the demographic they want to attract than (aside from WoW) all other MMOs.. AAA or otherwise.. combined in the last ten years.
A significant amount of content has been planned and releasing after the first month of play, and for roughly every month afterwards.
But yet.. you would have loved to have seen it because a massive success when nothing points to it doing otherwise yet.
I guess for it to have been a massive success would have meant for you personally to want to sub it?
How about it's just a good game with good success thus far? Why does it have to be massive success when few other games have ever held that mantle?

While i do agree that most if not all MMORPGs require very little to no skill at all to use the skills do i fail to see how DC is different i did play with Gamepad and honestly i dont think its any difference if i tap 1/2/3/4 on a keyboard or Y/B/X/A on a gamepad...but maybe i am wrong and hitting keys on a gamepad in the right order is considered Gamer skills in today's time....
Well, considering you can tab target an enemy in most MMOs in solo PVE and go get a snack and come back and it will be dead, DCUO does take more skill.
Besides, in DCUO you're tapping 1234, as well as clicking and holding the mouse and moving directional keys to execute the right combos, as well as blocking/dodging and interacting with the environment, all in fights that are twice as fast as regular MMO fights.
You're doing a lot more and if you don't do it right, you will die against 2-3 enemies which you're often fighting in solo PVE.
It's not like playing Bach on the piano or anything, but it does require paying attention and quick actions, which makes for a more viceral combat experience.

I have no problem saying I don't think the game is not a MASSIVE success. I know you think you have a "gotcha", but I wrote exactly what I meant to write there. Considering the time, budget, platforms and 3 companies behind this I expected more. That isn't something I am keeping secret. It has nothing to do with me not finding the game worthwhile to play in its current condition, so please stop trying to put words in my mouth.
All the commercials in the world just means it has marketing. All the stories of it being sold out don't matter either. Filled servers and new servers make a game a massive success.
Considering the massive amounts of television commercials and stories of stores being out of stock (not near my area at least) then one would expect the servers to be overflowing like they were in week 1 with massive login ques. One would expect the already packed servers to require additional servers to be opened up like they did in week 1. Yet three additional weeks of hand over fist sales to a game with massively crowded servers has resulted in zero new servers?
I think that is decent indication of things not going well. Combined with the combative nature of posters on the official forums. Go read how many references there are to doomsayers and posts about people leaving. It is pretty hard to miss.
I think the jury is still out if DCU is going to be a good game with a good success, even at the moment. I think it is a game that does 1 think decent and has found decent success behind a massive marketing campaign. The next few weeks will tell if the success is decent or not.

My God, Watson... I think he's finally gotten it!
This is the point, so your fears that it isn't a massive success or even to a lower level.. that it isn't even a good game with good success are unwarranted.
Why don't you put your fears and prognostications aside and see what happens in the future, especially since you don't have any interest in playing it right now in it's current form? (We already know you're waiting for the F2P)
I don't think it's a news flash to anyone who's been following your postings about DCUO (especially the DCUO news thread where you opined to staff here about covering Rift more and hinted impropriety) as some sort of surprise.
You know, there are some people posting here who secretly think the game is actually quite good, but they don't want to pay. So they are hoping that the game fails 'just enough' that a F2P model is adapted so they can get in on it.
You wouldn't happen to be one of these people, are you Daff?
You wouldn't happen to be one of these people, are you Daff?
No I am not, but we have already discussed this haven't we? The subscription fee is not the problem for me and I carry anywhere between 1-3 subscriptions to various games depending on my mood. That doesn't mean the subscription fee isn't a problem for DCU in general as many many other players and reviewers have often cited.
Why you feel the need to keep trying to make this a discussion about me instead of the topic I don't know, but it doesn't suit you well.
I stand by what I have said so far and I think the information available supports that. If you have something to offer that relates to the discussion one way or another I would be interested to read it, but otherwise spare me the direct attacks ok?

If you think that's an attack, your a bit thin skinned. Just a question.
But in any event, most people think it's a good game. The problem seems to be from most people who don't want to pay, hence the question.
Since you seemed to be the champion of the "DCUO F2P" movement, seemed like a logical question.

I'm not wounded, but you are constantly trying to make this a discussion about me instead of a discussion about the issues.
Much like you are doing again by trying to paint me as some f2p cheerleader. Your dismissive attitude and generalization show that you just don't understand what people are saying about the game. Again, the game can switch to F2P in the morning and I still will not play it. The revenue model isn't the problem.
Furthermore you should be careful talking about what most people say. I think "most" people feel it has potential and the majority of people are talking about how the game could be good/great/whatever if soe fixes X,Y,Z and lives up to the massive monthly content promises.
Go read what people are saying and listen to how many conditions are attached to any praises of the game. I'm just pointing out what is going on all around you.

I always get a kick out of your 'advice', when you never follow it yourself.
Telling someone to be careful about speaking for others then doing the same is pretty ballsy.

Thats true i guess u do need to do more than in most MMOs its almost like playing an Beat am Up game (a really REALLY bad one tho but still) i still wouldn't call it gamerskills u do the same kind of stuff in a lot of Action RPGs (well or similar stuff at least) and in the end its all the same Routine as just hitting 1/2/3/4 if u however mainly Play MMOs (or maybe only even) than i can see how u could mistake it for actual gamer skill
DCUO is groundbreaking at least for being the first current gen console MMO.
But it is going to struggle to retain subs. One sign of problems to come is that DCUO is going to launch its Valentine's Day content (unless it does it right before this weekend - a bit of a developer no-no) after Valentine's Day and it is going to arrive with no player testing, since DCUO has no test servers.

You are right, sometimes I make mistakes and even contradict myself despite my best efforts. It happens to us all.
Yet in this example I'm conditionally saying something and not really speaking for people am I? I'm suggesting you go read what people are saying and suggesting you may not find a lot of people who endorse your views of what you claim they are saying. Even so I am completely leaving open the possibility that I might be incorrect in my estimate and that the actual words of "most" others might prove me wrong.
Maybe I am wrong and you will find "most" of the vanguard players are happy with soes involvement and management of the game and how it has turned out. I'm open minded to either possibility, but I invite you to go look for yourself.
Of course you are welcome to read my words and create any meaning to them you wish. It is difficult to convey ideas across the interwebs sometimes.
