Games come and go, MMO come a little slower and go a little slower, and people like the longevity that most MMO's have.

Play MMO's like they're meant to be played; with other people! friends, family and coworkers. Create those fun moments and memories, the strength of your character should come second to the strength of your friendships... It's when MMO's create a rift between the two that I just shake my head and move on.

My point was I'm not gonna keep caring about something over the next two years if it ain't gonna be out any time soon. TERA Online has been in the works how long? By the time it does come out I'll have diverted my interest elsewhere.

You got me. I'm a solo player. I play mostly for PvP reasons.

In any case, hopefully people still have interest in ArcheAge by the time it actually does come out.

Seriously what is with this mentality of "I just got home from work, now lets do some more work, but lets call it 'fun' because its in a video game."

I want to play a game for real Fun, something that gets my heart racing or makes me laugh or just leaves me nodding my head thinking "That was cool...".

I dont want to come home and play a game and be left thinking; "I need to farm some ore tomorrow so I can make a suit of armor, so I can be competative in PvP, then I'll farm some gold so I have a huge stockpile of cash so I can buy more ore to make the new armor when the next patch comes out." - That... yeah... thats just dumb, No thanks....

i believe your looking for the console games. there in the next aisle. you have your instant gradifaction games of the week. hell they even added a feature called "Instant Adventure" to the game. im sure you will be happy there. leave the real game play to us. we go it.

I will probaly play ArcheAge if it comes out in English.  I have been learning some Chinese but more so spoken than written so I don't think I would ever be able to play it in Chinese.

Play as your fav retro characters: cnd-online.net. My site: www.lysle.net. Blog: creatingaworld.blogspot.com.

it sounds like to me you want a solo type game ( where you can progress by yourself and not fall behind) but you want to play this game with other people. my i sugest taking your laptop to a park or a coffie house and playing skyrim there. youll get to play your solo games with other people that way. like i said. from your posts i can tell that you are a console type of player and this is NOT the game for you. in fact any game like this one is NOT for you. stick to skirim and rift for your solo 20 min gaming fix. im looking for a game to play for YEARS not mouths.

I bet there's many west publishers who already contacted XL games, offering their services to make ArcheAge available to western gamers.

For those who didn't know, the talented team around Jake Song has been recognized in the US and have already made a contract with Take-Two Interactive to develop Civilization MMORPG (or MMOsomething).

I like Skyrim, so that sort pokes a hole in your Theory.

Yes Skyrim has grinding elements, but the difference is I am not forced to do those grinding elements, I can just go exploring and kill stuff, and the quests and dungeons are quite entertaining.

Then I have my console games, which consists of Uncharted (1,2, & 3), Borderlands, Batman Arkham Asylum & City, Marvel vs Capcom, LA Noire and Assassin's Creed (1 & 2).

Could be that I just do a little more research on my games than others and know how to recognize whats fun for me, and not what I've been told is fun? Hmm?

EDIT: To elaborate, I find most MMO's entertaining because they provide a sense of community, and that what I look forward to most in the genre when I see a new title announced. If you can make resource collection or other meanial tasks seem fun and rewarding by adding a community element to it, so I at least know my efforts are counting towards a greater goal... But if you force me to perform something to become competative or be on par with other players, I will just hate you for it and quit the game.

His theory was you would like single player (non-MMO) gaming more and you proved his point further. People like you wont like MMOs because you think YOUR fun should be everybodys fun. I have several friends who plays Skyrim (doesnt everybody?) and props dead bodys in chairs for like hours. Another spends tons of time gathering food stuffs to cook. Another just goes and kills stuff. Me, I do alot of it, including "grinding" stuff like enchanted alchy items to make stronger enchated alcy items until I make supreme items. I also enjoy playing on the hardest setting.

You probably wouldnt like this and yell an fuss about how its no fun. Also im excited you do research on console games, but the MMO players have YEARS to research the right MMO for them, so even the stupidest of gamers can manage to try only the ones right for them.

Ironically I can even tell you a MMO that might suit your needs, Guild Wars 2. Certain PvP sets players to max level with equal gear, making it 100% fair. You can do this from the very begining.

This game has elements in it that MMO gamers dream about being in an MMO, building huge towns, massive boats, game changing world wars, housing, farming, customizable looks, and much much more.

So while people like you are quick to call it simply another Asian game, I call it an industry changer. If games like AA are successful, other companies far and wide, will start dabbling in this expended type of game play. Its the type of game that you will naysay on but when it comes down to it, there is something "FUN" to do for near every single gaming style.

Lastly the game isnt super grind forever mode, thats a stereotype of the Asian game market. Good luck and have fun playing borderlands while im enjoying one of the best and most anticipated MMOs to ever be created.

It don't matter if their laughing at you or with you, as long as their laughing- Unique

Did they ever officially say that they will release in NA / The West?

NCSoft made titles like Lineage 2, GW1, and now GW2 (AreaNet is owned by NCSoft).  These have all been titles in Western and Eastern markets.  Jake Song used to work for NCsoft on these games until he broke off and made his own company in 2003 called XLGames.  He was the father of Lineage and made Nexus before that... In many interviews, Jake has mentioned that ArcheAge was being developed with western markets in mind.

I am looking forward to this game...I am really looking forward to the crafting side of the game. I am one of those weird players that enjoyed gathering resources and then either putting them on the market or creating something out of them. It is strange I know. I think it would be awesome to be a ship builder, or someone who goes into business to make homes for people or exploring the country.

    Currently Play: ?
Occasionally Play: Champions, Pirates of the Burning Sea, WOW, EVE ONLINE

Thre are some incredible games being developed in Asia right now, this bing one of them, and I know we'll probably not see this game for a year or more(this makes me a sad gamer), but this gives me hope.   I see what looks to be a great game being developed...something that can appease the themepark and sandbox crowd.   From all the chatter on gaming forums of people here in the US that have had the opportunity to get into this games beta(sadly I was unable to on this one yet) they like it, like it a lot.

Over the years I have come down pretty hard on Asian developed games because they seem to focus the grind.   This game is different according to those that have beta tested it.   I really hope they are right.    A game like this is what this genre needs to put it back on track.   It gives us a world.

    Explorers can explore.

    Killers can kill.

    Socials can socialize.

Achievers will be able to achive.

Sounds like the recipe for success.  ^_^

My friend. Looks from your post suggest you would enjoy console gaming. Mmo don't sound right for you. mmos are about work a lot because its suppose to be a real experience. Going out hunting, gathering, doing some daily.task. that's apart of a mmo experience and I really wish that people would get that because people that want. Fast fun are ruining mmos with thier dominate numbers and influence on devs making this once great market crap.

It doesn't need to be so overly serious either.  NO it doesn't need to be like a job.  You shouldn't have to commit to a raid schedule and act like some GM's employee.......if you don't show up you're fired type BS.  In the end its still a game and games are supposed to be fun. We play to enjoy and employ skill.  NO ONE with a LIFE should be dedicating over 40+ hours a week for a game that THEY pay for. Its called moderation.  The only people with that much free time are........kids.....people who work at some crumby job living in an apartment with like 4 other roomates and have no goals in life...or the dude that sits there in his mom's basement eating funion crumbs off of his belly. Not trying to insult anyone but I seriously get irritated when people treat games like real life.

Anyhow. I wouldn't mind checking it out but I'm not gonna get all hyped like this site's rating system. This game for some reason is at #2 yet the official site hasn't had an update in like over a month.  It isn't worth paying attention to unless we're getting some sort of news on it every week. Or maybe keep a game under secrecy until at LEAST 5 months before beta. After a year people start to wander elsewhere.

You have just discribed the " hard core raider" those that would raid 3 -4 hours 3 - 4 times a week. and just fyi. those types are in every game. but the one place that you see them the most are in theamparks because thats the only thing left to do after you hit max lvl. in fact games like Rift said themselves that "the real game starts at lvl 50" so you blow through content to reach lvl 50 to do what? like i have said befor. im looking for a game i can play for years, not months.

You'll probably get hate for it, but your comment is mostly spot on, lol.

I just hope this is a game where there is simply not one path to having an enjoyable experience. Where you can log on and feel the world. As opposed to games like WoW where if you can't commit to raiding or PvP, then all you can do is log on, queue for dungeon, then do dailies then log out.

If i judge the many gameplay videos ive seen its typical KOREAN grinder that will not be succesfull in EU and US for its TYPICAL lineage 2 looks and asian anime thats just not popular over here.
