hmmm...since I'm only playing 2 to 3 hours per week...the way I calculate it with 140 hours of content estimated to reach max level, I've got about 50 to 70 weeks before I'm at cap.  That's pretty good. BW should have loads of content added during that time.

    In TOR?

    Pardon me while I lol

People who rush to endgame and quit are not new to TOR.

I don't worry about them though, they'll just rush to endgame and quit in GW2, in TSW, in Archeage, and any other game that exists because that's just what they do.

"I played for 326 hours straight. You should have made more content / ragequit."

    Umm...

    Cookie?

So true I know a co-worker who will remain nameless in Pittsburgh that takes his vaction days on new game releases that he is eyeing so he can do just that --blow through the content.

Edit: That's how gaming works, you blaze through the existing content, have a blast, do something else, and return when new content is available.

OR you COULD have a game that doesn't require you do that. like oh i dunno how games used to be instead of this bouncing around. Give people more then just more of the same old gear treadmill and they'll stay in. It's supposed to be entertaining but some companies forget that.

I remember hearing a month after release of Vanguard that someone had completed the estimated 600-800 hours of content in little over a month. And if you think about it...it's completely doable.  20 hours a day for 30 days is 600 hours.

No developer can possibly keep up with these content bingers.  And it's the developers attempt to do so that has made most MMOs grindy and poorly designed.

At least BioWare is conceding this battle to the binger.  And in the process, the game play is much more satisfying for the rest of us.

I personally doubt they ever will tell anyone just look at how they handled the exploit bugs, it took off game forums on sites like these to let other players know that these bugs existed and that players were being wrongly banned for a huge mistake a company this size should have seen ahead of time so i doubt they will be honest. Honest =/= good PR.

this is a flaw of designing ultra-casual mmo's. you lose the hardcore playerbase. anyone here surprised?

Better question: Does anyone really care? I certainly don't.  Hardcore players can go frolick in their Asian grinders, or grind raid gear in WoW.

I've done all heroics questing planetside available to me .As diversion I enjoy PvP and the space mini-game. Plenty to do ...still.

Pretty much this. If you are level 50 within a week, you need to get out more, its really not healthy to play video games that much. I'm a pretty fast leveler, and my first character took 3 weeks. If it took any longer to level, the casuals would call it a boring grind fest.

You know what I find hilarious? That you think 3 weeks is not "blazing through content". Anything shorter than 2 months is "blazing" IMO. I would much rather be leveling up and struggling a bit more with the content than simply plowing through it like no ones business.

Then again, I am not part of the tard gaming crew that exists these days. Where max level means everything, and the faster you get there, the better.

Considering I play my Bounty Hunter almost exclusively about 3 times more per week (in hours)  than I've played any mmo character I'd have to say I disagree. The levelling curve does get slightly longer as you level and I am still 10 levels shy of max after a month of what I admittedly agree would be me uncharacteristically "blasting" through content. . Yet ...The rate that others must have gone to max out in 1-3 weeks just boggles my mind tbh. Truly it's all relative but despite my apparent "blasting" through content I'm not the one blaming Bioware for my haste.

Ofcourse it will drop after first month. Every MMO since WoW has dropped after first month. And to be honest, so what?

Star Wars is too big an IP for this game to substantially fail or go bust the first year and if enough new content is continually released it will stay healthy. I think to assume anything else is either simple hating or being over fatalistic.

Me and my four friends have stopped playing the game but today when I did my shopping at the mall and passed GameStop, two very excited young boys left the store with their brand new copy. Fluctuations are normal for all MMOs.

I'm not mad that I tried it or resentful that I spent the money. Next release on my horizont is Guild Wars 2 which I will buy as well. As for my present gaming I'm running some DDO with the aforementioned friends in a new static group and wandering around in Skyrim.

    few things

how the hell you guys at 50 already? lol. i been playing since launchand am only level 27/22 (valor)/180 (armortech) (granted i have to work and have 3 kids but i get to play 2-3 hours a night).

Server caps were increased...there was a bug in the coding which prevented (or read) the amounts wrong per server....this was rectified...so of course those "graphs" will show a downward trend in server "capacity"

haters gonna hate....they cant stand people enjoying a game which they dont follow.

many servers (US) in prime are still very heavy, heavy, full. Even with the server code fix.

Do you really hate that people enjoy themselves?

LOL sandbox elitists....you make me laugh. I played SWG and EVE for the majority of my mmo gaming in the last 10 years. People enjoy different things...stop thinking you are above the rest.

ANd why cant people enjoy multiple games? I play skyrim, FEAR (got it on sale on steam) and SWTOR, i rotate them out lately since i get a limited amount of time.....but sometimes people enjoy different genres of gaming....where is this stupid rule we can only play 1 game at any given time?

by these charts the server population in europr is dropping 5000 an hour.

not very familiar with this site but how are these server statistics calulated? I don't see a single overall server staus as anything higher than standard

I think there might be a bug there somewhere.

I checked the link ealier and even though there were quite a few servers on "Light" (which makes a bit of sense) there were more servers on standard and heavy (when added up). but the main indicator icon indicated "light".

Unless of course there is some other bit of info that I'm not seeing.

I will def keep my sub going. I'm having a lot of fun, just playing casual for once and not worrying about the min/max crap.

Been playing since early release and just hit 40 the other day. Finally got a killer gear set, orange type, with mods and whatnot. Sittin on 400k credits on my way to vast fortune and fame...lol. Think I'll try the BH class some, then probably the IO, for that james bond style play.

I have about the same playtime and got my main to max 3 weeks after launch. I mentioned earlier that I was a 'pretty fast leveler' and the trolls came out and said that I should have 4 level 50s in this time. I was making sure I did the daily space missions / daily pvp and daily dungeon quests, which sped it up a bit.

Your post is a perfect example of how much time it actually takes for a normal player to get to max level without using exploits. Thanks.

Getting 1 character to max in 3 weeks time is still pretty fast by average gamer standards...

Now, compared to basement-dwelling 12+-hour per day MMO grinders, that's nothing... but people like that have problems in my opinion. They need to work on their RL characters if you ask me.

I'm with you, BSpock.  I can't imagine that certain members of the board of doom could ever enjoy any MMO.  Not that I don't respect some of their opinions, mind you--I just happen to mostly disagree, and especially prefer to take a more light-hearted perspective on gaming.

Just to be silly, I'll announce what my personal crystal ball is telling me: TOR will continue to cause much consternation and disbelief in the detractors who will still not understand how so very many can continue to subscribe to and enjoy the game.  Furthermore, several of the detractors will remain subscribers themselves, and continue to predict their impending account cancellations.

Let's note that we are all in danger of making an argumentum ad populum in these type of threads.  If you hate the game, you may feel perfectly logical in continuing in that hate regardless of subscription numbers.

I'll punctuate with my favourite in-game quote from the flashpoint boss, General Ortol: 'I fought in the war, you piece of trash!  You think I'm afraid now?!'

  • VotanVotan Member UncommonPosts: 291

If you group with actual people (yes you need at least 3 friends who play when you do) you can level extremely quickly in this game, if you solo most of the time when you play then leveling is much slower.

As for the rest of the thread I will let you fanboi's and haters battle it out as anything else I post will label me as one or the other and really have no interest in that.
