If your going by the steam numbers which are 1812 on right now for FF14 but they did sell the game and launch it way before it was on steam. Any MMORPG on steam only accounts for the steam users. The numbers are completely inaccurate for overall population. Darkfall, Neverwinter, Secrect World hell the same could be said for any MMO on steam.

Not at alll. Darkfall is a huge world and can seem empty. However, there are people checking out the spawns, so if you are farming you definitely need to expect trouble.

Awesome isn't it? Have you played Darkfall? You know that you can only have one character right? People become known in this game. Really makes for a tight knit community.

It really needs to be noted that a game like darkfall is NOT supposed to be as populated as most other MMORPGs. If there were 10 people running around every mob spawn, the game wouldn't work. Also, the way reputation works in the game, being able to recognize people by name isn't a bad thing either.
That being said, the population is definitely lower than ideal, even for a game like this that shouldn't be bursting at the seams with players.

Lol...come on, DFUW could easily handle a 10x increase in players. AV even stated at the games peak they needed a 50% increase in players to break even.
Why has AV been advertising Darkfall's "massive battles , server supporting 10000 players" ????That is more concurrent connections than most MMOs.
DFUW is a far cry from an "ideal" population. Steam charts show a 720% reduction at peak in the last year and the game was hardly ever "bursting at the seams".

You keep talking about steam numbers like they mean something. All the dedicated players played DF from beta to release and steam didn't take on DF until several months after release. Guess which group is still playing DF?
If you haven't played the game you it just makes you look like a fool...

I honestly don't understand you guys. How is anybody supposed to take you seriously when you're just so obviously looking for opportunities to rag on this game? I JUST SAID that the population wasn't ideal, and your response is to say what exactly? That the population isn't ideal? Gee thanks, I guess?
The point of my post was to push back a little because the game is SUPPOSED to be more empty than other games. I'm an honest person so at the same time I'm admitting that the game is less populated than it should be even considering that.
Do you disagree with that? If you do, why? If not, why are you replying to me?

It sounds like you are trying to rationalize the games population. "Isn't ideal" is rather ambiguous and hardly represents the game currently. Of course it isn't "ideal" and its a long way from it.

Shall we dig up the many requests in the DF forums asking for the ability to add/link accounts to Steam?
Sadly in a few days with ESO release we will see numbers drop even further. I've seen a ton of chat in game people talking about moving over to eso. Even if they do come back in a few months there are several nice sandbox games coming up soon enough that will pull players away. AV had their shot at no competition and seemed to have blown it. Now that other games are close to compete I'm afraid it's nothing but game over for them.

It just wasn't a gap in the market AV screwed up, but the last chance for all those that bought into the Darkfall idea during round one. In all honesty I still think the Western version of DFUW was nothing more than a pay to beta for the Asian release. DFUW could have easily thrived if they had gotten it right and not repeated the EXACT same failures from DF.
I disnt like UW as much as its predecessor but what i can tell is that ESO gameplay is extremely different but doesnt mean it doesnt require just as much skill as DF. The skill ceiling is very different and not about how good of a FPS player you are.
I am sure most of the people from the undead army are going to stick with ESO. Even Angry Joe changed his mind about this game and admited he is getting addicted to its pvp now.

Anyway, it will be yet another hit to DFUW's population.

No, in all honesty, the pve quest trail in ESO bored me out before I got to the pvp. I watched a video to see if it looked fun, and it reminded me of GW2, a game I bought and had buyers remorse within a few hours.
I don't want to play a game that makes me "The Hero". I want to find my own path, and make my own name.
I enjoy Darkfall's "kill 100 of X" feat system, because feats aren't designed to be completed in 1 sitting. This means I can play the game and do whatever I want. You can get a steady stream of Prowess Per Hour from killing anything, even at 250k prowess, and feats are an additional windfall of prowess.
Also, just today they release more info on the daily/weekly feats that are coming:
Today we are offering you a further glimpse into the plan we have for the feats system:
Initially, we are adding a number of repeatable PvE feats to the game. The reasoning behind this decision is to promote activity in various locations around the world and also to avoid enhancing the amounts of prowess from harvesting and especially crafting. Still, this is only the initial implementation of such feats that will allow us to assess their usefulness. Changes and additions will definitely come depending on our findings and community feedback.
More specifically, there are several personal PvE daily feats that require specific monsters to be killed in order to be completed. Emphasis has been given on dungeon monsters as well as ones found in the four subcontinents. Weekly personal feats require certain numbers of monsters belonging to a certain difficulty rank to be killed. Similarly, the daily party feats revolve around specific dungeon and world bosses, with weekly varieties focusing on the higher monster ranks.
Reward wise, these feats will, for one, be providing the standard prowess reward. Additionally, we have the option of handing out material rewards as well and we would like to take advantage of this fact and provide some localized rewards in raw resources and similar items.
All repeatable feats reset at specific server times and days. Currently they are resetting at 04:00 server time with the weekly variant reseting on Mondays at the same time.
I am looking forward to this. It's smart that they will create daily hotspots and rewards with the Daily Feat, but still allow everyone to progress by doing the Weekly on a generic mob of a certain rank.
I always said I would come back when they brought in daily prowess quests, been waiting 6 months so far.
Unfortunately though, I love ESO so there's a good chance it will never happen.
See you in 6 months...
Playing: Darkfall New Dawn (and planning to play Fallout 76) Favourite games have included: UO, Lineage2, Darkfall, Lotro, Baldur's Gate, SSX, FF7 and yes the original Wizardry on an Apple IIe

Just more crap! AV could be focusing on improving the game to bring people back, not these pathetic band-aids to appease the current players.

Let me translate the darkfall-speak for you.
"Glimpse" = at least 6 months away
I always said I would come back when they brought in daily prowess quests, been waiting 6 months so far.
Unfortunately though, I love ESO so there's a good chance it will never happen.
See you in 6 months...
Playing: Darkfall New Dawn (and planning to play Fallout 76)
Favourite games have included: UO, Lineage2, Darkfall, Lotro, Baldur's Gate, SSX, FF7 and yes the original Wizardry on an Apple IIe
And why do you think they need "hotspots"?..........POPULATION (or lack off)
Just more crap! AV could be focusing on improving the game to bring people back, not these pathetic band-aids to appease the current players.
MVP = Fail
Where have all the "good" shills gone?
