Exactly Right.
Last time I checked, I earn my paycheck and can choose to spend it how I like. To you $150 may be a high price to pay for Alpha, for me its not a big deal.
Funny part is I bought the Alpha, Downloaded it, Logged in and made my Character then logged out to play Wildstar.
Just because I'm a gamer doesn't mean I drive a Honda.

You send a message to the gaming industry that you will pay $150 not for a console, not for an incredible finished game with a collector's edition containing a lot of extras, not for a finished game at all, not even for a physical copy of a game. You are paying a developer $150 to join an Alpha Test.
And you have the temerity to suggest it isn't anyone else's business how you spend your money? People like you lot are the reason that developers are continually releasing buggy, horrible, god-awful messes of games, charging $25 for mounts, and systematically destroying the value for time aspect of online gaming in general, by happily opening your wallets and sanctioning despicable, base, zero sum monetizing practices.

As I have said in other threads, I bought the Archeum $150 pack and so far do not regret it one bit. I really think the game is awesome so far!
Not sure why other people feel a need to impose their ideas on others but some of it is jealousy plus personal outrage over the pricing.
Please be happy for those of us who are currently happy playing the game. Why let it bother you? Relax and enjoy your weekend
How can i be happy knowing that you got scammed?
We are just looking out for you dude.
Our goal right now is to show Trion that more items need to be added for it to worth $150.
So just relax and enjoy the weekend.
Saying someone got scammed because you don't think the price is worth it, is insulting. All of my purchases are weighed against my level of disposable income, and whether or not I think the item is worth the price. For me, $150 isn't much for entertainment. That's a night out for dinner with the wife. I've got money into several alpha-access Kickstarters, and none of them "scammed" me.

Welcome to the free market. If there's a market, someone will fill it. I just so happens that there is a fairly large market for people willing to pay more to get into a game early. Furthermore, the people who pay for early access, subscription fees, and things in the cash shop make it viable for Free To Play to work for those who don't spend a dime playing the game. The result is gaming for all.
Some people believe these games should be completely free simply because they don't have, or don't want the spend the money on them. It's a good thing some of us are willing to spend money so these games are funded.

Anyway hope anyone that got the game will seek out many complaints we hear in other games. Exploit the game till death. Hey. News flash, Captain Checkbook: there is a whole world out there beyond your own wallet. Did you know that people used to pay US to Alpha and Beta test their games? Did you know that there didn't used to be patches, microtransactions and DLC in games, sucking every available cent from gamers because gamers (inexplicably) will pay for ANYTHING in ANY state these days?
For the record, $150 is nothing to me, so please dispense with the, "Too poor to afford X." argument that seems to be thrown around part and parcel. The people who won't "mind their own business," as is spouted categorically in this thread, are the people with the entire industry at heart, who probably remember when $60 got you a finished product, and who are standing around, scratching their heads and gazing in awe at the people queuing up to take it in the tailpipe for the 'privilege' of playing a buggy, unfinished mess.
If you're a game developer and you know lunatics are going to pay you $500 a month for something as simple and broken as Candy Crush, you don't spend millions on a Triple A title, and thus, Triple A titles no longer get made: result, innovation dies and the entire industry suffers.
If you're a game developer, and you suddenly realize that people are willing to spend $150 to Alpha Test your buggy, unfinished mess of a game, suddenly you will see this becoming the norm. Companies don't care about the user experience anymore, they care about their pocketbooks, they will dupe people into paying absurd amounts for precious little value, so that they can take their new numbers to the suits and skew things even further in favor of the dollar and even further out of favor of the end user.
People like me, and others who see the direction the industry has taken in the last 5-10 years can do nothing but plead and complain incessantly on forums, because the only way to stop this gruesome nickel and diming of gamers is to speak with our wallets. Sadly, for every intelligent gamer who realizes how badly they're being duped, how badly the industry as a whole is taking advantage of us all these days, there are 2 or 3 Captain Checkbooks who will happily pay $150 for an alpha test.

Just because I'm a gamer doesn't mean I drive a Honda.
you spend 150 dollar on something you would otherwise probably never do in a fresh open beta.
1) You paid 150 dollar for a bugged unifinished game
2) You paid trion 150 dollar to test their game, while they are all about businees- not your friends, not your family
3) Everything what you do in alpha will be deleted
4) You will get tired of the game till open beta even starts- a burnout is incoming and the forum will be filled by some of your idiotic logic "Paid 150, made mistake, AA is not a sandbox mmo"
5) All those benefits you got in your 150package are laughable. Do you even need them? THe 150dollars are afull win for Trion, since they added only some small codes that already existed in foreign versions. You dont even get anything physical.
Again, you paid 150 dollar for a unfinished game with some perks that you get anyway after lvl 10. On top of that that is all pixels- The experience wont get better with a paid membershit.
6) You just send the wrong message to the upcoming mmos like EQ:Next: i wonder what will they charge after this? 250 for testing Alpha?
7) Its just a game- and Trion trolled you life- 100:0 for them.
8) Buyers will never get point 7, till open beta starts and the mass exodus starts after 2 months- like it happend in every mmo in the past 10 years.

Some people believe these games should be completely free simply because they don't have, or don't want the spend the money on them. It's a good thing some of us are willing to spend money so these games are funded.
Another person who didn't get Strayfe's point. Someone will of course fill the market but at this price point it is insane for Trion to charge this amount. We don't want everything for free and this game will have subbs , cash shop etc indeed and that's all great to fund the game , but again this starting price for Alpha and perks is really pushing it. We are only trying to advise you that the price is extortionate and indeed shouldn't even have a price at all to test , the other perks should indeed have a price , but not behind the alpha access.
I think this is the modern age of gaming and it is scary , I shall keep a close eye on these leeching companies and make no mistake I am taking note. I shall avoid spending money on any alpha or beta testing and wish some others would too.
In fact I prefer a subscription , so I'm all for funding a game and keeping it alive for years and again a F2P game with a staring Alpha price of $150 is absolutely insane. I think trove was another , how much was that ? I think it was about $200 for an 8-bit retro styled MMO ? Ha ha. Congrats Trion you are making a packet out of the whales before you've even released your games , bravo indeed!

Funny Strayfe, this seems like the same song and dance you did about Aventurine. Whether you can or cant afford it, it doesn't matter. Your not paying my bills. Your not buying my Games. When you decide to do so, then you might have a say in how I spend my money. Until such a time comes, worry about yourself.
On a side note, The ONLY time in the last 20yrs that you or anyone was PAID to alpha/beta test was if you worked for the Developer in house. Anything other than that and I call BS.
Just because I'm a gamer doesn't mean I drive a Honda.
Ive been playing for several months and tbh its more fun than anything on the market atm. Between the quests that take you to enemy territory, the zone wars that will start while your questing sometimes, the judicial system (when you commit a crime) and everything else that makes the game great, I really like it.
Owning your own ships, houses, farms and gliders is a blast to.

Please stop complaining about the price and our choice to spend cash on alpha. Some ppl can afford it and that's all. Your reactions sound to me as if you are jealous. The market reasons against the alpha pack you are posting are excuses and only. If you check games on kickstarter and what they offer vs the donation prices you will agree that 135 euros for what trion offers is a decent deal. None forces you to participate on this.
Probably you are used on getting free access on alphas and betas from friends or game sites etc and now you are pissed off that you have to pay. So, face it now that people that can afford spending 134 euros have finally the chance to participate on alpha. I always sign for alphas and betas and never got any access, ever. I never tried to buy keys on ebay or elsewhere as I heard ppl getting scummed from wiseguys. Now I have the chance to feel the alpha experience. Trion offers what exactly the alpha pack says. Take it or leave it. Stop complaining and enjoy our videos upload on youtube.

Yeah kickstarter is part of the problem , these big companies realised that kickstarter MMO's where raking it in and thus wanted a piece of the pie. I am not jelous neither is Stryfe , maybe read what we typed and tbh I think you are jealous of all the alphas and betas you didn't getin. BTW AA also has free invites to their alpha.
Anyway as I said earlier it is falling on deaf ears.
The industry and the mentality of the gamers within has changed , hopefully there are some with sense left.

Well my wife just purchased this for me for my B-day, so i am super excited waiting for it to finish DLing. DL servers seems to be slow or swamped... 120k a sec.
So who else got this 150.00 founders pack and are as excited as me ?
Sure the game is a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. I was finally able to purchase this game with my hard earned money for which i work 60 hours a week. The moment i purchased the game i knew it wasn't your average MMO. Yes all MMOS have levels, quests and your usual tasks and grind but AA is lot more special. Like 150 bucks special.
Sometimes my daughter complains. She will say things like 'Are we going to eat tonight?" and 'Daddy i am tired of wearing this dress with holes in it'.
But then i just show her my awesome Arch Age founders pack and she shuts her little b*** mouth.

All the power too you. I just don't think it's a wise investment. You say you like it now.... Ill check in again in a month. I have disposable income as well, but I guess I'm more frugal with my money than you are hehe.
Let me explain. I like this game. Been having my eyes on it from the first day I ve heard about it. Saw every video available on tube. I know that I will buy it when it will be released. What the alpha pack offers is what I will eventually pay. Am not up for the testing but for gaming. Right now I don't have any game to play. I log in on Eso just to quest for a bit until am tired and then back to AA. So, I have the chance to play my favorite game earlier than expected and that's all for me.
Adding my name to those who paid the $150. I could care less about the Alpha. I love great in game swag and since I've been wanting to play this game for such a long time and I had the money I would've been a fool not to grab it because I was planning to play this anyway. I even hired a profesional GFX artist to make my logo or whatever.
Is the price outrageous, yes it is, would i ever have gotten into alpha? Probably not. The in game swag makes this game cheaper than the up front price, and I get to play a game that even though is in alpha in NA, is polished in the rest of the world.

Battle Station
You guys do you even know what you did?
you spend 150 dollar on something you would otherwise probably never do in a fresh open beta.
Cheers,

I'm a little confused.. The website says the Credits are valued at $75. Every post here shows them worth $100. Which is it? Thanks

Didn't even notice on the Trion Website, didn't pay attention because its not a big deal.
I just went off of Source post

I was just curious.. Not a big deal either way. I wasn't trying to bash the game. I'm going to buy a founders pack soon.

Great game, do recommend.
Well there certainly is a lot of insane people running around in the game then ! .... Me included
Took me ages to get out of my Straight Jacket just to write this !
All the power too you. I just don't think it's a wise investment. You say you like it now.... Ill check in again in a month. I have disposable income as well, but I guess I'm more frugal with my money than you are hehe.
Just can't afford it.
Backed Star Citizen with over 350$ for packages and merchandise
Backed Elite Dangerous Alpha 250$
My gaming budget is done for this year, need to save up for an Oculus Rift and a GTX 780 for Christmas time...
