Everyone will play Pantheon !

First, let me apologize for the bold title.  My intentions are not to anger people.   A title such as this instantly suggest "don't tell me what to do" And this gets people mad......I would like to ask people to leave their inhabitations at the door, not jump to conclusions and shut down in a defensive stance.

As it stands now ( 2015 ) the MMO market is "stuck in a lie ". Pantheon Rise of the Fallen to me at least is taken a Risky chance at pulling the rug out from the careful planned out marketing lie.  Gamer's have been told untruths by companies to help create there own agenda.  I have prof, and here it is:   Free-To-Play Cash Shops.  This in it's self is telling us money and lots of profit is the motivator.  But it goes far beyond simple money.  We also have cheaper products with less, easy content.  Doing the math, we now have two negative aspects working against giving the player a nice multiplayer world to live in for years on end......when was the last time you played one ?...More prof !

Were stuck in a lie !

For the purpose of this discussion I'll have to make up a name for modern mmos and I would like to call them Quick-fun-fun-games.  Games like this are getting old and run of the mill. We had been jumping on every new release because were addicted and need our fix.  We pray the new game will not be a Quick-fun-fun-game but they are.  Shallow shells of what were looking for. Quick-fun-fun games are well advertised using non-game play cinematic videos.  Saturday morning cartoons full of action, yet players are to be fooled into believing they have something to do with the game itself, yet never does.....Warhammer started this marketing crusade idea and it simply took as the base line of hype marketing.

Because of this advanced marketing scheme.  We all play EVERYTHING, adding we need our mmo fix. Are we truly happy ?  We at times pretend we are, but with Quick-fun-fun-games we can only fool ourselves for a short time, because that's what Quick-fun-fun-games do !

Now with all this, I would like to explain myself in why Everyone will be playing Pantheon Rise of the Fallen :

Old Schoolers recognize Quick-fun-fun-games.  They spot them instantly !  Most don't like them and voice their opinion, hence we have an argument.

New players don't know any better, sorry it's not your fault.  They have NOTHING TO COMPAIRE.  Older classics are just too old to bother with........Their just insanely old !

Something else that's a major point.   " Newer players don't have time "  First, who made this up ?  Second, what does time have to do with it ? Last I've seen, mmos are to be an ongoing adventure to be played at any pace !....this is a lie people here started.

Most important of all - If Pantheon is built like they say, everyone will play it no matter what !  Even the most negative poster will climb on the bandwagon.  Why do they even hate the idea anyway ?   What are you finding wrong with it ?  Because it's being advertised as a Social game ? Play with others ?....... Last I knew, that's the point of an mmo.

Haters just hate.  No words will win, they have blocked ears.  But crunch time they log in like everyone else :)

Last, everyone plays everything. It's totally a fact !  If it's good players will play for years.

People bring people.  Many will say, I'll not play Pantheon.  Yet, they have nothing to play because all their is are fun-fun-games.

I'm running on the idea. Old Schoolers will be first.  Newer players will follow because fun-fun-games only last for a short time, and have nothing to play.

The newer player will get their first shot at an mmo and like it.......Remember the classics are simply too old for the new player to even try.  And if they do, there too dam old !

I'm not picking a new title and hyping it.  I'm looking for a REAL mmo.  Infact I think developers don't even like me, that's ok, I like them !

Not if you like PVP and not if you dislike grouping. Hopefully these things and other features the game has will keep many people away. And this imo is a dumb thread.

    umm..no.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

I will not be playing this game.  Just not my style, but I hope you enjoy it!

If you want a new idea, go read an old book.

In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.

HOPEFULLY, features will keep people away ?

I'll draw the line and not touch this again !

Unfortunately, this applies to the vast majority of games but as we know, delivering on developer promises is quite different from just SAYING how good they are going to make it.

Sorry, Pantheon will not be the resurrection of the genre. It will have a niche following until the project is dumped like most born again mmos. (IMHO) I would like for some new MMO to prove me wrong, but really Pantheon does not look like the one to do it.

Yes keep people away who would want this game turned into a PVP game and quick fix mmo like we have now.

You still are not getting what I'm saying and still think this is a dumb thread. Saying everyone will play the game is stupid.

I'm about as "old school" as they come, and I will not be playing this for the same reasons I had no interest in playing EQ when it came out.  It's as simple as different strokes for different folks.

With great respect, I could understand your reasons.

My point in a nut shell is this :

If the game is as advertised. Large crowds will roll in, others will follow to simply see what's going on.  Being a REAL mmo ( been a long time ). Most will stay.

I'll admit EQ when it came out was not my style.  But the need for an mmo seems to overpower that at least for me.  Also, this is 2015, I'm not expecting stick figures and dull flat land graphics.

People bring people.  If many are playing it, it would be impossible not to give it a try, even if the basic synopsis is not my style.

It's quite possible not to try it. As I said, I have no interest in the games basic mechanics, and I know more than a few that wouldn't try it. This is assuming that it's even as "good" a game as you said as it's advertised to be, which in my opinion is going to be its biggest hurdle.

My point in a nutshell is this:

    "everyone" will not play it.

OK, I understand you don't like the game.  Your committed to this, simply because it's a fact. No one can tell you what you like and dislike.

Can I please with great humbleness ask just one more question, just because your the perfect one to ask because you DO NOT LIKE Pantheon.

If for example, one million players instantly play the game.  It turns out to be a very likable game for many then three million more follow.  Then the games momentum builds even deeper.

    Would you try it ?

I can answer that one as I m not interested in Pantheon at all. I m not sheep , I could care less if 20 million play it, I still wouldn t if I don t like it. That just makes no sense.

EQ had what? A million subs in its hey day?  Huge for its time.  Never played

Call of duty is massively popular. I don't care for FPS.

Millions of of people probably eat liverwurst.  I don't.

Miley Cyrus has made millions of dollars. None from me.

If if I don't like the basic premise of something, the results are going to be fairly obvious if I try it no?

Thanks so much for your opinion :)

I learned something today. Not liking something is not liking something !  It could be a case closed end of discussion. I was just testing the waters of gamer's hype, unrelated to developers hype.

Infact, I realized something.  I hated Wildstar and everything about it, even before release.  For me the game was just silly that catered to non serious life people, I found it irritating in every way.  No matter how many millions of players potentially liked it.  I WOULD NEVER !

Point taken Marcus, hope for the best for you :)

I think your basic premise if flawed in a number of places.

    1) Brad is in charge of this game right?  His track record on delivering complete, well built releases is poor.  There was already some early allegations of misspent kickstarter funds by the initial team, not a great start for the savior of the genre.
    2) This is the typical underfunded indie, so even if they wanted to deliver everything promised, they won't have the money to do so.  Likely you'll get a partial alpha/beta type release, which has the potential to drive away everyone before it ever gets off the ground.
    3) Now, the follow the herd mentality does not apply to me, so perhaps I don't give enough weight to it, but looking at this games design, it's nothing I would ever play, (much like MOBA's) so I don't care if 10M people are playing it, I won't be.  If a million people try it at launch, and 80% hate it as is typical, there will be no follow on growth.
    4) Is this title really what "everyone" wants? I know I want a virtual world, in depth MMOPRG, but if it isn't designed around player control of resources and land (a la EVE, Shadowbane, Lineage 1/2 etc) it's definitely not for me, my tastes in gaming are very narrow.
    5) If you enter Pantheon in Google it takes you to numerous links of a web hosting site, you must enter Rise of the Fallen to get to the game itself. =)
    6) Group centric, slow leveling, not exactly the formula for success in the modern MMO space, like others said, there's a niche for this sort of game, but the masses just aren't going to buy into this design?
    7) Payment model? No matter what they chose, they're bound to alienate some segment. In fact, to draw the masses it should be F2P, but their core target audience likely favors a sub only model, so what to do.

Finally, your title is troll bait, and you are increasingly coming across in your posts as a blind "fanboi", soon none will take you seriously if you can't keep some balance in your perspective and put a little less faith and bit more reality into what this title might eventually turn out to be.
