Smoke and mirrors people, smoke and mirrors.

They don't want to admit what has been cut; it's that simple. They are hyping the features that ARE in, in hopes that we don't miss those that are not.

Still, if half of the things they promised make it for day one, it still might be an interesting game to play.

So, for Darkfall to offer a massive seamless world that many are hoping for (and that can do what some people seem to claim) they clearly found an engine CRS didn't look at?  Or - they wrote their own and it's awesome?

are you serious? everyone knows DF developed their own engine from scratch, and this is one of the reasons why it took them so long to release.

And that's part of my point.

CRS made a lot of mistakes early on.  Day one players in WWIIoL still talk about the problems back then.

Seven years on and there are still issues with the engine... and that's from a company with seven years of actual experience in a live game after seven years of patches and fixes.

Yet apparently DF is 'all that' and more?

And if I believe what I read about DF then it has (in addition to this new awesome engine) thousands of hours invested in Artwork, skills, classes, AI and whole races?

When did the developers ever sleep?

Nothing says irony like spelling ideot wrong.

WWIIol is still deeper than DFO though in terms of combat. Mainly because of the sheer distances ammo can travel, as well as other elements.

Plus the world is huge. I almost want to say the biggest. Because my understanding is it's literally the scale of Europe.

Also, aren't there just a few servers. Don't they support a large number?

In order to support infantry level combat in an environment where tanks need to be able to fire on targets at 3000m and planes need to cross vast distances at hundreds of miles an hour require some very specific requirements from an engine. When we started WWIIOL we realized that no engine out there could do what we needed so we built our own. Over the years we’ve realized that there still isn’t an engine out there that can meet our requirements (believe me, I’ve looked at them ALL) and so we need to improve what we have. The Unity upgrade is that improvement and it will be ready to go into live testing early next year."

A game like that requires a much better game engine then Darkfall will need.  The draw distance would need to be huge in order to support the long range fighting, which isn't a case in Darkfall.  And there are no planes flying hundreds of miles an hour in Darkfall that would require a much better game engine.

All Darkfall needs to do is be able to support many players, which has been done before.

Almost ignored that comment about the betaleaks.com, haha!

So awesome that nobody leaked nothing at all, and did not answer any questions on the leak forums. I guess we, Darkfall fans will not enjoy such great new information; and not read the whole thing in great joy and excitement.

How unfortunate that some people will still think that Darkfall is vaporware, will never succeed or realize their promises. After all, there are no leaks that praise Darkfall in most ways except for a number of its still locked features and somewhat different UI. Well, I guess I will have to not stop writing this post and not reading the rest of the leaked information since there are absolutely no leaks yet.

I hope 9002 will be a blessing to all of you nay-sayers and rest of us.

In a planet where people believe Earth and the rest of the universe was created 6000 years ago, we would probably be in heaven drinking our holy wine by then, looking young and angelic, but approximately 7 billion years old (give or take 500 thousand years).

And I've just not started reading another leak (this time somewhat a grimmer review) that was not posted prior to the most recent one that was not leaked in the same website.

My impressions from what I have not read from the leaks; this game sounds like it has the potential to achieve what developers have always advertised it to be. Good news for all the Darkfall fans; only if there were some leaks(!).

Who knows how long a "God day" is. Man was created approx. 6,000 years ago, not the universe or the Earth. The universe could be a billion bajillion years old, and it probably is.

I'd much rather prefer a full Open Beta to any leaks, since I'm seriously skeptical at this point

Edit: I didn't read the other 17 pages of fanboi/troll/skeptic wars.

Well, we believe the Earth is 4.5 billion years old, and Homo Sapiens evolved much earlier than 6000 years; I was kind of mocking you, creationists.

I hope your skepticism about Darkfall will also spread to your faith in a book that suggests Man was created 6000 years ago when there are strong scientific evidence such as Homo Sapiens skeletons that are carbon-dated back to tens of thousand years earlier. By the 6th millennium B.C., some human societies were already beyond their hunting-gathering stage, domesticated wheat in numerous parts of the world (China, Mesopotamia, etc.), developed basic trade and were able to explore other land-masses by coastal navigation; needless to say they were also speaking different languages, building monuments for their gods, and battling other tribes over land, resource or their gods. Yet, some still believe we owe our humanity and civilization to the incest that is Adam and Eve which is dictated on us by a book that was written 2 millenniums ago (that mysteriously had a lot of references to the "then popular" polytheist religion dictations such as a legend of Hercules and Zeus example, I believe it's in vain to make the obvious analogy here).

It's also unnecessary to mention that you'd prefer an open Beta over a leaked information about a game, so would all of us. The point I was trying to make; Beta Leaks are out there, and my impressions from what I've read are very positive, and it seems the game is on right track even if the release date may be postponed once again. I'm very confident that the open Beta will begin in a few days; in fact, I expect a Journalist Beta this week.

Why can't people just wait until Darkfall has come out before they try to crap on the only good thing any real mmo gamer has going?

Simply put: Darkfall is too rough for most gamers and those players, green with envy because all their MMOs have totally failed to produce anything as exciting or innovative as Darkfall in recent years, feel it necessary to bash what they won't be able to enjoy.

4 and 6 are the only ones that i call bull**** on.

no MMO to date (aside from maybe AoC) has had decent terrain/lands.  To me its hard to believe that they can include 5 continents+hundreds of islands+underwater depths+an underworld and still pack that with plants and animals to a level that they claim.

from the videos i saw pretty barren and sparse landscape (but it did look alive and good).

anyway aside from that i can see them meeting most of those promises.  Some will no doubt come later on (1 month - a year on) but i feel most will make it in.

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
