So much is wrong with this game and I so dearly wanted it to be good; only to be dissappointed again by a MMO company and thier substandard product.

I'm going back to playing Borderlands and Left 4 Dead (which is what STO should be in short order); they aren't MMO's........but at least they are finished products that do everything they promise.

Maybe..........just maybe BioWare will get it right with ST:TOR; I hope so, but I'm not holding my breath for a MMO anymore.

I'll give it a B as I can see what the games going to be like once it's all up and running. It's a nice easy pace game comparied to the dark, indepth player driven, hellishly harsh world that is eve online. Fair few bugs but what MMO in beta isn't? give a few months and all the major kinks should be sorted...

To you D and F givers ITS IN BETA you cant exspect the open beta to be the finished game. How many of you have actually beta tested a MMO before!? I worked on Fallen Earth at closed beta and that game sucked for months and months till it got working then it was quite good but not my cup of tea.

Eve rocks! If you don't like it your a a 12 year old, or have the mental age of one, with the attention span of a goldfish! We are so glad your not screwing up the greatest MMORPG to date! Or of course you just might not like this kind of game ;D ...weirdo’s!

Do you realize the same poll ran on the Star Trek Online website resulted in 300ish testers saying that the game was a D?  And that was when I gave up on this game about a week ago.  For all I know the thread is still going.

This game so fail isn't not funny.  People holding their breath for Cryptic to "right the wrongs" and "fix all the bugs" or even "add more content" clearly don't know about how Champions Online when down.

Oh you don't say? 300 people out of thousand voted it as D? this game is really a FAIL!! damn.

    /sarcasm

Not surprising as the same people are posting on this website.

At the moment i'd personally say avoid, but in a few months or so, it might be worth trying.. though.. im involved in a few games already and this one doesnt seem to have too much going for it.... as yet anyway.

Just about 3 of 4 respondents give this game a C or less... for a game selling for $50 + $15/mo AND plans for a cash shop.

The one thing Cryptic could do at this point, to improve any chance for success, is cut the price.

Aside from that, all I can see is an average launch followed by a steep drop in subs after month one.

It gets a "D" in its current state.  Cryptic has an opportunity for a passting or failing grade over the next week.  But as it is now, as a rank 16 Klingon, the game-play amounts to counter-strike from many years ago whereby i teleport into a lobby for a king-of-the-hill simple player combat match.

I have slightly more expectations for what Cryptic advertises as a mmorpg.  The game currently lacks player/character differentiation in skills, there is absolutely no dynamic pve or pvp, the entertainment is shallow, the community feel is so fragmented with the great number of instances, no trades, no crafting, no merchandising, no economy, just suicide combat without consequences or rewards for achieving something challenging; there is no engageing challenge or hook to game-play as I experienced it yet.

     A-

Reason: The game is fun, I love the different play styles from ground to space. Also neither is like any other mmo to date making the game unique. You could argue its like Champions but it really isn't anything like it. So what they used the engine. It makes it easier and cheaper in the end. Ground combat is meant to be fast paced. Not 10 people attacking 1 person and that 1 person living and killing everyone. It's semi realistic. I enjoy that. Space combat is touch sensitive and the controls are easy to pick up yet the space combat requires more thinking than most ship combat style gaming.

The game could use more ships of course, it would also be nice if there was armor appearences for Klingon.

The game has bugs but all those will get worked out. Cryptic generally waits and releases little by little and then one BIG patch at launch. They did it with Champions I'm sure they will do it with STO. Bugs and Lag aren't an issue as I am 100% sure it will be fixed come OFFICIAL LAUNCH DAY.

As for endgame content I'm not sure if there is any. I hope there will be raid style missions 10-25-30-40-50+ People. That is why I enjoy other mmos is the Raiding. PVP is also big. The game has some problems with the ques but again I know it is being fixed so it isn't a issue with me.

Maybe if your a hardcore Star Trek Fan and expecting to get out and walk through your entire gigantic ass ship then your not happy. Maybe you were expecting Perpetual's version of the game. I don't know but if your giving this game a bad name or bad reviews then your nuts. The game is still in testing and is technically in testing until February 2nd.  That is just the say it is.

Also ITEM MALL means nothing as it will have nothing that effects the way the game is played. Minipets and other pointless things that are all show off items which if buying them with real money means you have even more of a reason to show them off.  50 for the game and 15 month is standard. So this is an excuse. Come up with something real.

ps.... You cannot compare STO to any other game because it is UNIQUE. It has its own style.  IT isn't compare to eve because its not a 100% ship based game. You can't compare it to a wow or a aion because it isnt a fantasy game. If your using these thinkings please go elsewhere as your thoughts are unwanted.

I give it a C. While thats a passing grade, I am disappointed that a Grade A IP got turned in to a Grade C Game.

    Tried: EQ2 - AC - EU - HZ - TR - MxO - TTO - WURM - SL - VG:SoH - PotBS - PS - AoC - WAR - DDO - SWTOR
    Played: UO - EQ1 - AO - DAoC - NC - CoH/CoV - SWG - WoW - EVE - AA - LotRO - DFO - STO - FE - MO - RIFT
    Playing: Skyrim

D and I only imagine it will get worse as Cryptic abandons the game to whore the next IP they decide to churn through their MMO mill.

Heres to hoping the rumors of them working on a Neverwinter Nights MMO are false lol. Would hate to see another IP treated this badly.

  • ironleviironlevi Member Posts: 122

I give it a B. It's not traditional MMO exploration but it's fun for me. I'm not even a big Star Trek fan.

I kind of like the simplicity for once. I love that my away team can be me and my own crew. The AI healing is better than some real players I've raided with before..

  • aretinaaretina Member UncommonPosts: 104

Now with all this bugs i give C but this game really have potential to have very strong B or even A depends on way Cryptic choose .

I'm get into beta and i preordered STO after week of play this is my first MMO i'm buy since i buy EVE and WoW quite few years ago.

With 2 of the best gaming houses made the first 2 games, It'd be a tragedy if they got someone like Cryptic to make an MMO.

Those 3 out of 4 giving it a "C" or less is from a survey on the official site, not here, and many specifically say the grade is on gameplay/mechanics and not due to bugs.  If you want believe all those people are MMORPG.com trolls...you go on thinking that.  This game is seriously flawed.

Theres the thread that asked the same thing on the official forums. Seems the majority seem to feel as we do here.  Majority are giving it a C or D.

It won't matter, Cryptic will find a way to cut the price very soon after launch.  Just like how I was able to purchase CO for 14 dollars on steam..... for 14 dollars the game was a steal, for 50 dollars the game would've been a waste... give STO 6 months and we'll see what happens.

Just a reminder: ITS IN OPEN BETA... just in case any of you forgot.. so giving it a grade at this point is well.. ridiculous. I gave the OPEN BETA a B+... still in the BETA and doing my job as a tester to help make a better game..

It's what....a week before it goes live for early starts?  Anyone acting like there are going to be massive bug fixes needs to get a reality check.  Rushed bug fixes tend to just replace old bugs with new bugs.  A "magic patch" is simply not going to happen.

Are you that dumb?  Really?!?!  The game releases on Feb 2 dude.  You are playing the final product minus a couple of minor bug issues.  Not the graphics card issues, not the server issues, not the disconnects.  Stupid things like adding a new FX for your tricorder.

Its not a bad game.  Something different from all the hack and slash games out there.

    I give it a B.

Every single MMO on this website has more negative topics then positive. I guess we are reading different forums.
