You do know you can get to 50 Vitality Strength etc by actually playing, right?   You don't have to use mindless grinds to get there sooner.

It's probably a combination of boredom and ADHD. The people that try to bump you out of the water are angry because they know you are advancing your character quicker than they are, and they don't have the attention span to sit in one spot and swim into a wall for 10 hours a day.

Ah, but this is not the case at all. You can gain the same stats by mining, logging, or combat. What the OP is doing is wasting time. It would be far more productive to have ore, sulfur, timber, resin, and loot than to simply swim all day.

BUT....it's a sandbox game, and how he/she chooses to play is up to him/her.

Os a side, I usually kill swimmers. The sound annoys me.

You should have highlighted the entire sentence, because you would have noticed that I said they don't have an attention span available to sit in one spot for 10 hours. This also includes timber/ore farming.

it has nothing to do with attention span....leveling stats via swimming is a waste of time. Period.

And you cannot sit in one place for 10 hours mining, or logging. Of course, doing these things would require one to go out into the world, and PVP might happen then. Can't have THAT until you're "viable", now can we? ;)

If you hit a rock (mining) you won't gain as much over a 12-15 hour period because of the variables involved.  If I chose to do what you state as fact, the rock might be out of ore or I would have to make trips to town to unload etc.  If you want your stats to raise the swimming game can't be beat.

Interesting how you can say that leveling stats via swimming is a waste of time while there are probably hundreds of people doing it right now in the game. I'm sure they would agree completely with you.

I've hit trees for and mined for 10 hours straight, its quite easy. There are plenty of areas within tower range. Actually i've been mining for the past 45 minutes and plan to for the next 4 hours at least.

LOL, no we couldn't have that :) And as if swimming was infinitely more fascinating than chopping tress/mining ore, so much so that those with low attention spans would somehow be entertained.

Also you'd think someone playing the game would know that they can't sit it one place for 10 hours depleting one node.

they're more than likely swimming while at work or asleep....which makes them fodder for either someone like me to kill, or for a ban. Doing it at the keyboard is a waste of time.

Yeah, you can mine and log for 10 hours. Not in the same place though....and before you know it those safe nodes in tower range will be depleted....either by you or the 1000 other n00bs either on trial, or huddling in NPC cities. Eventually you'll have to go out in the wild....

They wouldn't be swimming if it wasn't a waste of time. I don't think anyone just sits and the keyboard and watches their character swim. I watch T.V., surf the web, use these forums, watch movies and play other games.

Nah thankfully the game has such a low pop that I don't even have to put effort into finding full nodes. There are more than enough near towers that even if i was competing with others I would have plenty.

If you elect to play the swim game I would highly suggest playing another mmo while swimming because it can get dull rather quickly watching your characters head move up and down.

YOU chose to play Darkfall. YOU decided that you must have your swimming skill above 50.

You could very easily get banned playing like that. You're essentially AFK if you tab out of the game and do something else.

Where the heck do you live, everywhere I go there are always lots of players around? You've gotta hit the nodes around the city early in the day, otherwish you are SOL. Sounds like you have it easy. You still in a noob city or something? You need to move out of those quickly, don't stagnate. You'll miss out on so much this game has to offer if you don't.

Doing something that has one result, VS doing something that has two or more. Hmmm....not too hard to figure out.

ONLY raise stats, VS raise stats and accumulate valuable meterials, AND raise skills......hmmmm....gee...that's a tough one, eh??

Meh, maybe in Ork lands, or some other area where players don't go. Somewhere where one would hide if they were afraid of having PVP until they were "viable", maybe ;) Has little to do with population, though....the world is huge....and there are places that once can hide, I guess, and not see many other players.

Why not just team up and pvp in you clan from the start? Why not just play naturally and have skills come as you play more? Why artificially work the system when you can do the stuff you want and skill up?

YOU chose to play Darkfall. YOU decided that you must have your swimming skill above 50. Unless there is some invisible hand forcing you to play the game, STFU or move on to some other MMO.

    Do you play Darkfall?

The reason I ask is you would know that I wouldn't be swimming to increase my swimming to 50.  I'm trying to get my STATS to 50.  At 40-75 stats you unlock new abilities.  My swimming has been maxed out for a long time.  I enjoy this game but thank you for the recommendation.

So this is all to raise your stats?  Good luck to you.

One question though, how do you have 12-15 waking hours a day to dedicate to swimming in an MMO?

“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

this is what we've ALL been asking, in every one of these threads that the OP (and a couple others) keeps making.

It seems they are determined to make life hard on themselves. BUT.....that is their right....after all, it IS a sandbox game....there's no "right" way to play ;)

It's kind of hard to do anything but hit trees/mine and swim while you're not playing. So, i guess it's not a tough one.

Plenty of trees/ores here. I barely ever see another player, its great. Theres also nice swimming spots to hit within tower range.

I see in your signature that you have played Darkfall.  If your signature is true, you can see how this presents a response problem that can't be overcome.

If you wanted a degree in Industrial Chemistry, would you take 1 class a semester so that its more "fun?" It would take you 40 years to get your degree but boy you would have fun doing it because you would have so much free time. Or, you could take 5 classes per semester and be done much quicker and actually start your career. Hopefully this explanation puts it in a way you can understand. The supposed point of darkfall is PvP, it is the "ultimate PvP" mmo apparently, so you want to reach the point as quickly as possible.

It seems like playing DF is more of a job or chore.

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not but its been quite accurate to what I've experienced in the game so far. It is sad, but as long as you keep reminding yourself of the PvP you will one day be able to do it can keep you going.
Anyway I don't know how mmoluva does it but his threads usually seem to stir some resent. It will be funny to watch all the posts in this thread that try to deny or twist what he is talking about.

Well, my stats are closing to 60, some are already above. And 5 weeks ago I got them around 40 (I've raised my hp pool from 252 to 318). For all this time I've been wall swimming for 7 hours... I'm not gonna deny anything. Just gotta say there are retards in DFO. But not that much...

    Ding ding ding!

But...Read the OP's post history. He refuses to really start playing Darkfall until he has reached a certain point with regards to stats. It's unfortunate, but ultimately it's his choice. I just can't understand his need to make thread after thread about it.

I play darkfall in a tiny window when i mine/swim, and I have tons of room to do anything else I want to do on my screen. I can see if anyone sends me a message and therefore won't get banned.

Orks and dwarves have barely any pop. I've seen 2 people the whole day, and they were near the vault. Starter areas are the best to farm at but any town will do in orklands because there are so few orks.

I played Darfkall from release through December 2009. I do not play DFO any longer.

I realize that swimming increases stats also, but why the need to rush to the top of the skill tree? Like I said before, no one is forcing you to do it -- it's your choice if you want to rush through your skills. The game developers never hid the fact that stat development takes TIME.

The problem with games like Darkfall isn't the game itself, its the players that can't stand it if they aren't "uber" right out of the gate. Its the same mentality that causes WoW players to play for two days straight, getting to the top level. I don't call that playing a game, I call that an obsessive/compulsive disorder.

However, I applaud your creativity in writing a post that attempts to distract the readers from noticing the fact that you are WHINING.

I'm having a good time playing Darkfall but production is dictating that I play in this manner until certain game goals are reached.  I'm playing the way I am because it is the fastest way to PVP.  Swimming 12-15 hours a day has been a nice break from the 5,000+ mobs I've killed in PVE.  After my swim is complete I'll regain my enthusiasm to continue my 4,000+ mobs of PVE that remain.  After this work is complete I'll hopefully be able to experience this great PVP that has been awaiting my arrival.

Why not just team up and pvp in you clan from the start? Why not just play naturally and have skills come as you play more? Why artificially work the system when you can do the stuff you want and skill up?

If you wanted a degree in Industrial Chemistry, would you take 1 class a semester so that its more "fun?" It would take you 40 years to get your degree but boy you would have fun doing it because you would have so much free time. Or, you could take 5 classes per semester and be done much quicker and actually start your career. Hopefully this explanation puts it in a way you can understand. The supposed point of darkfall is PvP, it is the "ultimate PvP" mmo apparently, so you want to reach the point as quickly as possible.

There are prerequisites to getting a degree in industrial chemestry, yet none in darkfalls pvp.

Get a clan, team up and go kill people.

Who told you had to have the best stats to even start pvping?
