WoW is already in it's death throes. Cataclysm poisoned WoW to the longtime player base. They may still have a huge player base but, will the new subscibers stick around for 5+ years? Doubt it. Something as big as WoW doesn't die overnight but, it is on it's way down. The question is, can they recover? With GW2, SW:TOR, Arche Age and TSW coming out. Maybe but I doubt they're going to get a government bailout like GM and Chrysler.
Sorry I do not belive that GW2 wil be a WoW killer. I played GW from release and still do play it now and then. Over the years it has been my failsafe MMO to return to when all else fails. Been playing DAoC, WoW, Aion, WAR, AGE etc etc side by side with GW. Think it will be the same with GW2.

exactly what he said...
Also i wonder if they have that reminder like in GW .. You've been playing for 15 hours. Please take a break..... i don't wanna!!!
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
Personally, I don't care about this whole "WoW Killer" hooplah. It's silly and besides....WoW is already dead to me. I don't need someone or something else to "kill it." It already killed ITSELF, so far as I'm concerned.

This.
Who the hell cares if a game is going to be the 'WoW Killer'? I mean just do like everyone else who is bored of the game; move on and don't look back. WoW will eventually burn itself out - until that happens just play what you find to be fun.
There are 3 types of people in the world. 1.) Those who make things happen 2.) Those who watch things happen 3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
We should stop the whole 'lf wow killer' thing. We do not need a wow killer, because it would basically be wow again right. Anyway gw2 looks good from here. Wonder if they will live up to the hype.
Whenever I see "it's a WOW-killer" I know the game will suck. Compete against WOW means WOW clone to me. Thanks for the warning. The only "killing" you are doing is to the potential customers looking for something new.

htere are 2 kinds of things that people want to call WoW killers...as much as everyone groans and disapproves of it...
the WoW clone that does it better than WoW. There have been lots of attempts at this kind of game. So far, no successes, but from what I hear, rift is doing a pretty good job.
the game that seems so awesome that is could potentially draw so many people to it that it would kill WoW, while being nothing like it.
GW2 is fundamentally different from WoW, but I think WoW killer has no real meaning since, regardless of how awesome a game is there is no way that the game is going to kill WoW.
Because WoW killer has no meaning, calling a game WoW killer has no meaning, and trying to say that, because people think that GW2 will be a great deal better than WoW and are calling it, however incorrectly, a WoW killer, it will scare people off because no previous WoW killer has killed WoW, is just dumb and shows ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT THE ACTUAL GAME.
people suck at being objective, but you can at leat try to base what you think of of things other than the ill-aadvised atatements of people on the internet.
As a side note, I would have though there would be a small jump in hype after info about the tief came out...its awesome.
I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.
let's lay the "WoW-killer" crap to rest guys. ANet themselves have stated the game is designed to coexist with other games rather than compete. besides, nothing can kill WoW, but WoW/Blizzard itself.
It's like claiming that the new restaurant opening down the street is going to be the McDonald's-killer! Nothing will kill McDonald's. It might kill off it's own customers, but that's a whole different matter.
Ever been to a mall? Ever been to its food court? Notice how there's more than one place to buy food? Notice how some have longer lines than others... but they all exist in relative harmony? Fascinating, eh?

GW2 = Free healthy food for life = Insane Gameplay for life = MMOGAsm = WIN
Sorry, but no computer game is really that healthy.
KFC is rather nice if you lived on Mc Donalds for 7 years, particularly if it will cost you less but don't use MMOs and healthy in the same term.
MMOs are candy. Candy is great if you eat a little at times. If you eat too much you get fat. MMOs are a great deal of fun but I have a few friends who played too much and none of them are a pretty sight.
GW2 could end up being incredibly popular, but I fail to see how that will suddenly make people stop enjoying WoW. Even if people currently playing WoW were inclinde to try GW2 in large numbers, since there is no subscription fee, they would more likely play both at the same time.
Whatever the case, the only thing that will likely bring WoW down is Blizzard, by not keeping the game up to date and refreshed. Old age is the ultimate killer of every single successful MMO to date.

I must aggre on that statement, lots of people does not get that either because thay lose contact with outside world or thay are just too unexpirienced to detect level of contamination thay can get if thay are too long on "candies".

if there is one game which can beat WoW, it's this one. one of the only non wow-clones too. didn't people think aion and rift were gonna do it?

It isn't a WoW killer, it is a WoW crusher.
So true.

It's on tilt. So disatisfying to see people do it wrong. They need to lean to the left some more.

GW2 isn't trying to kill WoW.
They are trying to become #1 though.
There's a difference. If WoW were to fall to #2 in players to GW2, it still wouldn't be dead.
Oderint, dum metuant.
rifts rating is 8.71...has it killed WoW?
