GW2 = Free healthy food for life = Insane Gameplay for life = MMOGAsm = WIN
Sorry, but no computer game is really that healthy.
KFC is rather nice if you lived on Mc Donalds for 7 years, particularly if it will cost you less but don't use MMOs and healthy in the same term.
MMOs are candy. Candy is great if you eat a little at times. If you eat too much you get fat. MMOs are a great deal of fun but I have a few friends who played too much and none of them are a pretty sight.
I must aggre on that statement, lots of people does not get that either because thay lose contact with outside world or thay are just too unexpirienced to detect level of contamination thay can get if thay are too long on "candies".
lol i over exaggerated on the healthy part didnt mean healthy as in healthy in rl healthy as in good gameplay unhealty = badgameplay i know not a good comparision but the guy used Mcdonalds so had to compare that with what he wrote... any way any accesive video gaming can be harmful to your health..okay back to thread WOOO GW2
I asked my friend Who plays WOW and is a Wow/blizzard fanboy.. if hes going to play GW2 he said "no and was like if Anything is going to kill WOW will be Blizzards new MMO called TITAN" I told him that he will eventually buy GW2 because i will make HIM get it no matter what..

Well,
Let's call him mr.Titan then! If he comes, he won't come in the next two, three or even four years probably! WoW is... and... will..make alot of money before Blizzard launches their new "titan"/thier new mmo! I would guess 5-6 years ahead... atleast!!
But until then? What will last until then??
GW2?? No! But luckely our GW game will make us pleased for a while atleast cause it will be great! There are some triple A ones coming out that will blow the market allright and yes, I'll play it but gw2 will do just fine as a side game!
As soon as another game takes WoW's place as "THE" game. Everyone is going to complain and moan about how that one sucks. The best way to get a bunch of gamers to hate your game is to have it be number one.

Better be loved by 10 million and have a few very vocal fools complaining about the game on these boards, then getting praise of awesomeness and only having 100K players...
Next to that GW2 numbers can never truely be compared to WoW numbers, because GW2 will cound boxsales where WoW does count subscriptions...
One thing is clear..... if GW2 succeeds it might mean the end of WoW copy cats and make MMO developers start thinking for themselves again.... unless they are such fools that they start copying GW2 instead of WoW.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Couldn't GW2 count active users?
Ofcourse GW2 will count active users in one way or another....
They could but that would just be for bragging. Wows counting of the Chinese player base is actually somewhat fishy as well, when people doesn't pay a monthly fee it is more important how much expansions and stuff in the itemshop you sell, not the actual number of players.
As a great leader once said "It is better having 50 million on the bank and 5 thousand followers than the other way around".
I think a lot of the GW2 players will play a bit on and off, a lot in periods with breaks in between. When you don't pay a monthly fee you don't feel as bad when you take a break but on the other hand don't you have to buy a month if you feels to play a few hours.
F2P games rarely count active subs because they don't live on the number of subs in the same way a P2P game does.
GW2s most important thing they will count is the number of boxes sold. It is their main income and the thing they counted from GW1 (just under 7 million boxes to 3.5 million accounts BTW).
ANET have as far as I know never counted the number of active subs even if I bet they will if they get close to Wows number.
.Garriott estimates 100,000 people play Guild Wars across the US and EU at any given time, and 1.5-2 million total every month—and still, connection costs remain manageable.
{mod edt}As if the population of this site even begins to reflect trends in the industry or trends of the general mmo playing population. I mean if this site's user base was any indication then the entirety of people with an internet connection would be on EVE. Guild Wars 2 will be popular but it is just as likely that it (as well as TOR) will suffer the same fate as all the latest AAA titles of late. Even more to mention that nothing will ever be a "wow killer" except for wow itself meaning blizzard. They will kill wow the instant that they release another mmo to compete against itself. People on wow are not all resubbing month to month because they secretly want to play GW2 or TOR or some other mmo on the horizon which may not yet be dreamed up.
In short, hype doesn't mean squat. Final Fantasy 14 had a fair amount of hype before it came out and look at that mess. CO, DCU, STO, Rift, they allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll had recognizable hype scores and look at them now... floundering miserably in utter failure. But on the bright side GW2 should be good and fun and well made. How bout dem engineers, eh?!?
The reason Guild Wars 2 won't kill WoW is merely because it is Buy to Play. Millions will buy the game, but keep subbing to WoW because they can. They can play both and only have to worry about keeping a subscription to one.
Guild Wars 2 will have an incredibly strong community, that's for sure. And with their business model the way it is, ANet will lead the way for future MMO's and how it SHOULD be done.

A SIDE game????!! You think GW2 will just be some little mmo that will only be fun for a few months and not a premier game? /facepalm
It's beyond lame with this mentality that people have to go play for the other team. People care way to much about numbers, and stats.
It's not even hype related. In the end it's just about people reinforcing their comfort in their beliefs by basking in the fact that other people supposedly agree with them, thus making their opinions and preferences much more true.
You people got it all wrong. The glory is in the unique individual, not following the stream. It's what makes human beings so special in the first place. Even in something as superficial as our facial appereance, no species is as diverse.
But why even give this a serious reply? This a troll enticing thread, made by an unoriginal biggot who wants people to rage.
The hype meter, utterly useless and it's easy to manipulate it past the point of being meaningful. And why was this thread necro'd after a month of being dead? Should have been left that way frankly. I can't believe this thing is 20+ pages based on the topic, but throw the phrase "WoW-killer" out there and...

You should also know that RIFT is actually doing fine right now, it hasn't failed.

Hype do mean one thing: A lot of people will keep their eye on the game and either try the beta or buy it, this happened with Rift and many other games.
But the thing that decides if the game is a success or not is how fun the game is to play. Most of the Wow players I know try different games once in a while, but frankly have games like Rift and Aion either been too close to Wow or not good enough.
The hype gives the game a chance. It will still have to prove itself as a great game or it will fail anyways. And FF XIV never been near the GW2 hype, it have been in top for a year now and that has not happened since I become a member of this site at least.
GW2 have a lot to prove, but if it really is a great game Wow will lose players to it. Not all of them, not even close but maybe half.
Frankly have no AAA title the last few years been good enough. Rift was pretty wel done but it still felt very close to Wow when you play it and was too small. GW2 is relatively different.
Rifts hype is the reason so many people tried it. The game couldn't keep it's players but frankly had Rift one really competent developer (Van Canagheden) and he quit the company for 3 years ago. GW2 have several experienced devlopers with experience from companies like Blizzard, they are in a different league from Trion.
GW2 might still suck badly, only time can tell us that but the hype actually helps, people know what GW2 is at least.
I think people just want a satisfying alternative to WoW, which is why the term "WoW Killer" gets thrown around so much in the first place. People want something to pull them out of the trance that is WoW. Som Ex-WoW players also harbor a grudge against the game (myself included) so some of them toss the WoW killer term around too. Truth is, the term is too extrreme as no one is going to 'kill' WoW, but they can offer people a solid alternative for once where other mmos have fallen flat.

I don't just want to kill WoW. I want to make it suffer. But that is not likely in the cards. But you are right, we need a game that can pull away some of those people and be a real competitor. But it will take several big, successful games to split up the market and create real competition.

AAaggg tired and sick of that "WoW killer" expression...................
Why all games are allways posted in the same sentence with WoW..... you guys really need to get over it.... -.-
I agree GW2 is going to be probably the best game to come out in years... I´ve been patiently awating it for over 4 years now...

Seriously. Especially if they an adult.
Why would you want a game you like to kill WoW?

i hope GW2 will be a very polished game but not a wow killer, let them enjoy their wow for the next 10 years (not sure about that).
Anyway i think GW2 its a game that deserves the hype cause it will rampage the market and it will bring a fresh air to the genre.
