I must admit that I find it very coincidental that within a week of Mr. Smart's allegations, we now have the FPS module in 3-5 weeks (instead of the projected 10 months) and a brand new PTU build. Let's hope that at least some resolution is brought to the whole issue.

Let's keep things in perspective please.. at least the MMORPG staff.

No one talked about a 10 month delay, at least not on SC's forums. Here is what Ben Lesnick wrote in this lengthy post of his titled "Some thoughts on concerns!" on July 9, BEFORE this whole Derek Smart charade : It would not be my place to give you a timetable, but with the number of people I’m seeing who genuinely believe that we somehow now aren’t doing the FPS module I will say that we are talking about a delay of weeks and not months/years/decades.

Chris Roberts announcement about the fps module is within the time frame Lesnick gave and definitely not related with Smart.

A post everyone should take the time and read: https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/271173/some-thoughts-on-concerns

And this is why the game industry needs actual journalists that do that stuff they do. Hobbyist and freelance interest articles and reviews are important and necessary. It's what adds a lot of the flavor to reading through these pieces, but when it comes to something serious, a news story, then use the right wrench for the right job.

The problem here is the gaming media isn't doing their job as well as they could. They've let a few vocal witchhunters take control of the story and shape it. That's never good.

Exactly, that's been my biggest problem with this all along. This type of "reporting" is how railroading is done. The truth gets lost in the sensationalism. It leads to the accused being perceived as guilty regardless of the truth.

Wrong!  Derek Smart addressed this BEFORE July 9, on July 6th:  http://www.dereksmart.org/2015/07/interstellar-citizens/

The 10 month projection is somewhat correct.  Also, SBFord never said it was delayed, but said it was a projection.

Here's some quotes from Chris Roberts' own words.

    http://starcitizen.wikia.com/wiki/Anticipated_Release_Schedule

"And then after [the planetside module] we're gonna have the first-person shooter ship boarding module where they can fight against other people on their ship. And then an alpha of the single-player story Squadron 42. And then finally an alpha of Star Citizen, which is a full sandbox universe that involves all these modules."–Chris Roberts golem.de Interview, Gamescom 2013 [20]

This year we’re going to show the first-person combat. ” –Chris Roberts on June 16, 2014[21]

?!?!? wrong? I wasn't talking about the delay at all, I was referring to teh way MMORPG and other sites have handled this whole thing.

I think they handled it very well, they have not listened to you and your buddies.

As far as I can see nothing has been brought to sight except worries and rumors, i want facts and documentation and I want it now.

As of now the only accomplishment we've managed together here on MMORPG is the instigation of the Troll-fan-festival 2015, which of course is a tremendous feat still, considering all sides go all out trolling eachother. those that are SMART can sit back and enjoy :)

This whole community is reminding me of this.

As a backer ($124 only) I don't have it installed. Waiting until its finished, I treat it as an investment for fun when its ready. I don't care if its a 5 year process. I'm seeing updates regularly and I happy with that.

Either way... the Interwebz will be locked up like the mother of all DDos attack.

My advice - order the Ultimate Mega Bucket of popcorn.

Save the interwebs!  You can do that by right clicking on you browser and where it says "Save Page As" click "Everything - "Entire Interwebz"

This is the internet and no matter how good it is, the internet trolls will come out and play. My guess they have already started.

Of course you do, it's what you want to hear and the only thing you and your buddies want to hear is what supports your own conjecture ... The rest of us are simply interested in the facts, not conjecture, not he said she said, not speculation or sensationalism...etc..

    1) There is no uproar. It´s was a desperate for attention storm in a waterglass of a failed 90ies dev with highly questionable reputation and motives, and 99,9% of people reacted with a good laugh, a double facepalm, or both

    2) If anyone actually thinks CIG changed a single release plan or feature of their regular alpha drops, because a random nobody wrote a wall of text, I wonder if you shouldn´t team up with the author and make the next awesome worst rated game ever.

    3) I bet the next thing is someone claiming CIG is going to Gamescom because they praid to the Viking god Wotan and HE made it happen

Nah, don't worry, when Star Citizen launches in 2017, Derek Smart will claim it only happened because of the pressure he put on CIG, lol

(disclaimer: Wotan won't listen to you if you have to ask for help from him.)

My bad.  I meant to quote Shodanas.

I don't see how they handled this wrong though.  They've been reporting on it fairly.  It's not their fault if RSI refuses to grant interviews (assuming they are approached).  Will they always be 100% accurate?  Of course not.  Even professional news outlets get things wrong.  It's human nature.
