Earlier trailers were based on concept art done by arenanet's artists. Now they do actual gameplay trailers!

Anybody remember that Aion 3.0 trailer? Yea, that's what I thought.... Until I see it in the game I don't believe it... They made aion look like this epic game in the trailer and when the game came out it wasn't half as good as the trailer. Just more hype here nothing more nothing less...

Yea, Aion was a good game, but certainly not the game from the aion 3.0 trailer they all wanted you to believe it was. Looks like more handy work from ncsoft.  Yea yea yea.. aranet my ass. Who's name is still on the box.

Who is developing a game matters far more than who is publishing it. Aion was developed in South Korea and was created as a traditional eastern grindfest. It was later hastily repackaged for a western audience. Arenanet is a western based developer that has already established a baseline of standards with Guild Wars. They have shown already that they are raising the bar for themselves by a large margin and have also stated that every bit of info they release is on something "already in the game".

I ask that you do a little bit of research before you attempt to troll. Although, being a troll, that may be too much to ask of you.

     Hahaha.....

You realize that the gw2 trailer is quite reminiscent of the aion 3.0 trailer?

Everyone on here is 0o0o0o0o0o aaaaahhhhhhh the trailer, but how will the actual game turn out?

They seen one trailer and all of a sudden this game is a WOW and every other MMO killer?

I highly doubt that. I think people will buy it becuase it is b2p and then will still be subbed to their other MMOs of choice.

If anything kills this game it will be itself. All this false hope and too high expectations for it. People think it will be the MMO killer. People think it has all this different stuff to offer to the MMO genre. Well, I hope it does. I must say, I enjoyed that video and was excited myself. But I am not gonna let a company with NCsoft on the title get my hopes up too high.  Regardless if they develope or publish the game.

Lol, its now just about this trailer -_-

Arenanet has been doing frequent updates about the game as well as interviews.

This video was more like the icing on top of the cake, especially since most of the video is gameplay.

I still wanna see ACTUAL gameplay. At the moment its all been fancy camera work. Looks good but still would like to see proper gameplay then we can see what it will play like.

Your wrong, only the personal story is instanced...think of it like WoW instances or raids, learn more about the game before you assume its not an mmo....have you even read one interview?

Any instances are bad, more or less. WoW was the start of games calling themselves MMO that weren't really MMOs. And yes, I've read a lot about the game, so far its been all talk, and a few cinematic gameplay trailers.

Than dont play the game? if you think any instances are bad, go play a sandbox....

Your spewing uneducated misinformation, a large percent of the trailer was actually gameplay, that is characters using real skills that will be available upon release.

(1)They may be using real skills, but those sure as hell aren't real in game camera angles and whatnot. The music, the camera shaking, and most of the graphics, are all done in a very "trailer" way. Are you meaning to tell me when you encounter a dragon in the game, everything will freeze and there will be a sweeping cinematic of it landing and a close up on it? Besides, like I said, the skills just have good animations.(2) It's still more or less the same type of combat we've had for 12 years now, as far as I can tell.

(3)This video had little to no information on it, yet everyone is screaming like Jesus has come again, over what, just graphics, seriously, just graphics.

    (1) i cant tell you about the dragon because guess what, i havnt played the game :0

    (2) fascinating chap, nobody said this game is redesigning the combat system...

    (3) go learn more about the game....

Like I said, I already know plenty about the game. I dislike the lack of a death penalty, and I dislike the instancing, but the rest looks promising. But over the past 6 years of MMOs hyping and failing, can't blame me for being jaded. I don't think it'll be a total WoW clone the same way almost every MMO for the past 5 years has been, but I don't think it'll totally live up to the insane hype you're generating for it.

Unless I'm limited to one game per lifetime.

It might not kill the game, but it might be the one you end up spending more of your time with.

Well I spend more time in life doing things other than playing video games, does that have any bearing on the fact that I still consider myself a dedicated gamer? All I'm saying that the "kill this mmo, kill that MMO argument" that the fanatics like to spew when they pledge holy allegiance to these temperary distractions of life need to be brought into perspective before they hurt themselves or worse another.

Sweet trailer I say! I'll definitely buy it. They I will play it. Then I will move on. But to praise all thee thy holy in our darkest hour.....no....that I will not participate in.

I didn't mention anything about your play style or anything like that, I only made a comment implying that when youu come home from that long days work you might end up wanting switch on GW2 more than any other game. That is in no way implying that you will spend ALL your time on it but more of your gaming time.

I respect your opinion and I'm not saying you should partake in their "OMG WOW KILLORZ!!1101!!"

Luckily GamersCom is coming up in germany, about 45 stations for fans to sit down and PLAY GW2. Anyway, the only way to truly experience a game is to play it yourself, video, even gameplay video, is no substitutuion.

For me it's only one reason really, community

This is an MMO and will have separate servers/worlds with a number of players on it, as time goes by some players leave and new ones arrive but the community persists... or as anyone that has played MMO's for at least the last 8 years or so has discovered if the number of players leaving is too high then the community suffers making the game a lot less fun to play. Server/World mergers, though sometimes necessary, tends to accentuate this. Even a very good game or one where things are improving dramatically will suffer from players leaving in large numbers, this is much more likely to happen with a very high hype level.

If the game sux it doesn't really matter, you're out $50-60 (or $120 if you got a second copy for the wife) but it's not the end of the world, if it's a good game that you could enjoy for years with online friends it does matter.

I understand you want a good community, but a little info

Guild wars 2 realms are called shards, and you will be able to freely change shards as you wish, so its impossible to get stuck on a bad realm.

Anet has mentioned in one of the first posts/interviews when they released their first trailer that they have ingame cameras. They've mentioned on GW2G that they spend hours getting the camera angles just right in the game. They've mentioned that they've got a fly through camera when they released the very first trailer. You may know them as dev hax. Every developer uses dev hax when creating/promoting the game. OK the shaking is most likely added in as effects. The graphics, sorry to tell you, are actual in game graphics. There is a discussion on this at GW2G. Yes that is ingame footage. It's all done in house, they don't ship it off to some CGI company to create a cgi trailer. They never said anything about the combat being different from any other MMO. You are complaining that it still looks the same, I'm excite that we can dodge roll.

"Guild wars 2 realms are called shards, and you will be able to freely change shards as you wish, so its impossible to get stuck on a bad realm."

You are semi-correct. Anet has stated somewhere, I'll have to look for it, that they will put a limit on changing worlds. To keep you from jumping ship whenever you team does poorly. I see something similar to GW's old system of changing between europe or american realms. You get so many switches each week/month/quarter/whatever.

Its possible to get "stuck" on a bad realm during W v W v W because they will put restrictions on movement during that time so that people dont zerg to the winning side. That's not to say you can't do other things like pve with friends in that realm, you just might not be able to partake in that realms W v W at that time.

:) shard is a dev term generally used to denote what most players call server (since no server for a modern MMO is a single server but rather a collection of functions spread over various hardware) I guess it simplifies things to use that, they might go with Worlds for GW2 though due to the WvWvW concept we'll see :)

More importantly, moving from one server to the next freely whenever the current one doesn't excite you may sound like a great idea but massive player transfers both to and from a server will kill the community just as effectively. As in OMG, that 53rv3r is totally l33t, they pwned us so bad, lets all transfer there! (3 weeks of constant crashes/queues later people are starting to log on a lot less) - I hope it works great but it's not like waving a magic wand...

you and i both dont know much about the system, so lets not say its going to be flawless or horribly laggy

i kinda imagined it to work like the system in aion, where if one zone was full you could switch to another full zone. yes i know aion has servers also

we will have to wait until more information is released about shards

"THey talk about it so proud and yet it is total scam from SW TOR  they totally stolen idea  lol and are so proud of it we dont wanna let u grind omg really sad."

they are referring to the ingame event system, which will affect almost everything around you....

I have heard nothing of the sort from SWTOR

I was stating the fact that NCSoft is not the developer of Guild Wars 2 and not speaking toward the marketing of the game itself. It could very well be the same person(s) responsible for the Aion 3.0 video/edit that created this video. They succeeded in bringing a lot of attention to the game, did they not?

I dont know if its the visuals they are striking people, at least not for me. But its the developers touching on the little details they can release to the public. Its all been said in other articles and interviews but to see and hear it directly from the horses mouth gets me a little more excited about the game.

The one thing I am looking forward to is no more ! or ? or any other symbol over NPC's that symbolize quests. Just the random events that will be happening around your enviornment that you choose to join in to help accomplishing the task or ignore. Either way will lead to an outcome. Choose to stop the raiding of the incoming charr on the village, or ignore the Char and watch them destroy the village.

Good sir, could you be so kind to allow me to copy this message? I'd like to use it as an example of the perfect troll post.

Anyway for all the people who think ANET is all talk, just wait until the demo at Gamescom is shown and you'll think differently about GW2.
