Anybody remember that Aion 3.0 trailer? Yea, that's what I thought.... Until I see it in the game I don't believe it... They made aion look like this epic game in the trailer and when the game came out it wasn't half as good as the trailer. Just more hype here nothing more nothing less...

Yea, Aion was a good game, but certainly not the game from the aion 3.0 trailer they all wanted you to believe it was. Looks like more handy work from ncsoft.  Yea yea yea.. aranet my ass. Who's name is still on the box.

Who is developing a game matters far more than who is publishing it. Aion was developed in South Korea and was created as a traditional eastern grindfest. It was later hastily repackaged for a western audience. Arenanet is a western based developer that has already established a baseline of standards with Guild Wars. They have shown already that they are raising the bar for themselves by a large margin and have also stated that every bit of info they release is on something "already in the game".

I ask that you do a little bit of research before you attempt to troll. Although, being a troll, that may be too much to ask of you.

     Hahaha.....

You realize that the gw2 trailer is quite reminiscent of the aion 3.0 trailer?

Everyone on here is 0o0o0o0o0o aaaaahhhhhhh the trailer, but how will the actual game turn out?

They seen one trailer and all of a sudden this game is a WOW and every other MMO killer?

I highly doubt that. I think people will buy it becuase it is b2p and then will still be subbed to their other MMOs of choice.

If anything kills this game it will be itself. All this false hope and too high expectations for it. People think it will be the MMO killer. People think it has all this different stuff to offer to the MMO genre. Well, I hope it does. I must say, I enjoyed that video and was excited myself. But I am not gonna let a company with NCsoft on the title get my hopes up too high.  Regardless if they develope or publish the game.

Lol, its now just about this trailer -_-

Arenanet has been doing frequent updates about the game as well as interviews.

This video was more like the icing on top of the cake, especially since most of the video is gameplay.

I thought the video was awesome! Didn't provide much new information for those of us who stay up to date on latest guild wars 2 news. However, we get to dodge roll now!

For those of you who think otherwise: this is NOT one of those cgi trailers. What you see is actually in the game. However, Anet has stated they spend hours trying to get the footage just right. In the latest blog post, Mike mentioned that people will actually be able to see The Shatterer (that dragon) during the demo.

Oh yea, It looks like it is shaping up to be a good game. I know I plan on buying it. But all this talk on these boards about it killing all other MMO's well, that's probably not gonna happen. If it does, well good thing that this was one of the games I was looking forward to.

I have to say, as big of an swtor fan I have been.  I am starting to look more forward to this game than TOR. Graphics look amazing, it appears that they are trying to do things quite differently.   At least I have a game to fall back on. Plus B2P sounds pretty good.

Just tone down the hype on it.... At least for me anyhow.

Trailer is just awesome, already had an eye on the game due to the WvWvW concept and will likely buy it.

That said the community is going to be an absolute horror and they won't be able to deliver on all they are promising, call me a pessimist but no one can deliver at this hype level and the hype level will guarantee more whiners getting the game than any other MMO in history. I really hope they deliver something almost as fun to play as it is great looking and that the game will survive long enough for the community to mature (ie the whiners to move on).

Wrong, Aion 3.0 is a  trailer as where the devs want to bring Aion in the future (thats why it was called vision trailer), even said so in the trailer, they also stated that not everything will make it in the game either, GW2 trailer on the other hand is ingame footage thats actually in the game.

I played GW1 and all expansion and i never caught Anet on advertising something that was not in the game.

Again, I ask that you take more than a few seconds of your limited attention span to seek out some relevant information before replying to any more posts. Just because a trailer for a game is reminiscent of a trailer for another game, does not make the games one in the same. There is nothing wrong with anyone being really excited about a promising game that is in development.

Attempting to troll a forum where others are extolling their excitement for said game only makes you look assinine.

Well I can definately say my interest in GW2 just went up a few notches, things really are looking good for this game.

Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

Either way it was a part of the hype machine.... And for the guy that keeps telling me to look up stuff about the game. I have been following this game alot.    What I don't like seeing is all the hype "MMO KILLER" bullshit.

Yea , this game looks good, it feels good, and hopefully it will deliver. But to say this will kill or change the MMO genre is just misplaced pessimism.

This is what I'm afraid of. The level of hype grower further than what Anet can actually deliver. I have no doubt that Anet will deliver on what they promise. However, I'm afraid the level of hype exceeds what Anet has actually intended for the game.

Edit: BTW the main guild wars and guild wars 2 community doesn't care if it's a MMO Killer. Anet doesn't even care. In fact, they could care less if it kills WoW or not. In fact, I would even go as far as to to say they don't want it to kill WoW. In fact most of us agree that it will most likely create a nice little niche for itself in the MMO genre, but will never be big enough to take down any other MMO. It's all the other people who are spouting this MMO killer crap. NO It will not be an MMO Killer, so stop saying that. As someone said in an earlier post, only rephrased for my use, It may not be an MMO killer, it may not be the greatest thing people have seen since sliced bread, but no one can deny that this will be a damn good game.

Anet creates the trailers BTW. They don't ship it off to others. The footage you see is Anets actual work, not some CGI work. I will agree that they used dev hax in the creation of the trailer.

really? you guys are worried about hype levels?

let people who enjoy the game play gw2, and let people with stupidly high expectations ragequit and cry on the forums. Nobody at arenanet is saying this game will slaughter every mmo on the market, yes they are saying they are creating a kick ass innovative game that is trying something knew, but little kids are taking this in their own image and they are the ones to blame

They never said that was gonna come out anytime soon and haven't they already started bringing some of those features in with Aion 2.0? You guys really need to do some reading....

    This is not a game.

Of course it is but to claim its false hype is another thing, at the end of the day they want to sell as much boxes as possible, dusnt mean that ArenaNet wont deliver though as im sure they want to sell tons expansions also (no subs so they have to).

said right here on the bottom

I think they want to hype and they should...they just proved their passion and I trust them=Im sold and so should be you!:P

I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them

I wouldn't know , after NCsoft banned me from Aion for no reason I have not kept up with the game anymore. Every time I look it up it just pisses me off, because I would still be playing and I woud be getting ready to enjoy some of this new content. I thought about buying the game over again, but damn that. Paying them for a game I should not have be banned from in the first place and then having to grind my way back to 50 asap so i can actually enjoy the new stuff.... Just not happening.

Yea, I do have a lil resentment toward NCsoft. I don't have a problem with aranet and it looks like a good game to be coming out that I hope I can enjoy for years to come. But I'm very concerned with the out of control bann hammer n*z*'ees they got over there.

ok i was wrong, but they cant go out and say "we are a company of passionate gamers with one mission: to make guild wars 2 the mst mediocre mmorpg ever created"

and they said Best, not most popular, which is a very notable difference

not sure why you highlighted the last part, almost every small company bets their company on their mmo

I also struggle to know why people care so much about hype. The only thing people should worry about is if they themselves would enjoy the game. If it is hyped through the moon, so what.

Its true Anet is quite independant with Guild wars, i know this as a veteran of Guild wars.

To my knowledge Arenanet even controls who gets banned on their servers.

Its not like other NCsoft games.

ArenaNet is nothing like NCSoft. From what I have heard from the community mannagers over at GW2G (actual A-Net employees) that NCSoft has pretty much only provided some funding and some help procuring interviews and articles with some of the more official gaming web sites.

In that video was concept art and in game engine shots, so visually everything should be there. As for the rest of the stuff, most of it has been discussed in the blog posts and on the official site. We wanted some video evidence of it working, they provided. In a about a week, some will get the chance to give  us their first hand interpretation.

This will be the first game I pay for a lifetime subscription.....Oh wait! There isnt one!

It sounds like they are making an MMO that I have always wanted. I hate the grind in mmos these days and the same kill 10 of that and 20 of this quest. And the...."I swung the sword....I swung it again..." type combat feel. Now I really cant wait. Dont let us down ArenaNet.

Large statements but TBF you've got to aim for the best. If you aim for mediocre you will get mediocre, that's not to say if you aim for the best you won't end up with crap but if you aim for mediocre you will get mediocre or even worst.

It's fair to say A-Net doesn't want a niche anymore they did with gw1 ( but TBF gw1 in it's high day wasn't really a niche) as it was their first outting but they're really rolling with the big guns now. We'll see how well it works for them.
